Anime Punch joins in the homage to Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

[Editor’s note: Paul Soth rocks! — CTZ] I spent the past weekend atAnime Punchhere in Columbus. A small to mid-size con that I’ve watched grow over the past few years, Punch always manages to put on a good time. It was on Saturday afternoon that I had an idea. An incredible idea. One that I knew I had to act upon. Heading to the hotel’s business center, I opened up Destructoid to theepic Silent Hill post, printed out the unfortunate image of Harry Mason, and then use the printout as a guide to all the various cosplayers present....

Bethesda breaks down Brink by crazy numbers

Bethesda has been ramping up theBrinkpromotion ahead of next week’s release, helped along with some insane statistics that the publisher has yanked out of its arse. The numbers are being used to show off how much variety is found in the game. Did you know that there are 4963 weapon attachment variations? Or 26,000 lines of dialog? Or how about 47,325,358,080,000,000 costume combinations for one of the game’s two factions? Yeah, these numbers are just silly....

Anything that isn’t exactly like theFalloutof yesteryear is treachery and should be destroyed. Well, Bethesda haswisely chosen to ignorethe lunatic fringe, instead concentrating on its own vision for theFalloutIP and waiting for opinions from those playing the game, not those who refuse to play it because they’re too busy pretending to be fans of the series....

Bullet Witch costume extravaganza: Part 2

Bullet Witch. My strange obsession with the game defies all logic. I have never played the game. The onlypreviewI’ve read didn’t specify what expectations we should have of the title, and there are only handful of gameplay videos out there, all involving you blowing up gas stations and restaurants, and calling forth bolts of lightning to zap evil men in their nuts. Strangely, I’ve never been aHalofan. I lovedPerfect Dark Zero, but I doubt I’ll ever playGears of War....

Christian Children’s Fund refuses donation from Gygax memorial fundraiser

As you may well be aware,Dungeons & Dragonscreator Gary Gygax passed away this year. His memory was classily honored by geekfest GenCon, who raised over $17,000 in an auction for Gygax’s favorite charity, the Christian Children’s Foundation. The CCF, however, has decided torefuse the money. Why? Because the money was raised with the sale ofD&Dmerchandise. I really cannot get over how myopic and frankly despicable that is. Because the money came from a gaming convention, apparently it’s not clean enough for the good little Christian boys and girls that the CCF looks after....
