Moredisappointingnews for those who thought a quality videogame movie might be on the horizon (all one of you). TheLatino Reviewis reporting that theupcomingKane and Lynchmovie, starring Buce Willis and Jamie Foxx, has lost its director, Simon Crane, only two months before the movie was scheduled to go into production. The report says that Crane wasn’t working out well with the film’s producers and so they have parted ways. This isn’t really bad news in that Crane is some amazing director (he’s a stunt man/second unit director) and now he’s gone, but because any film project that kicks of with controversy is usually headed in a bad direction....

Yes, I know, you’re up to your wazoo in zombie games. But here, have another one. It’s calledZombii Attack, and it’s a WiiWare-exclusive game launching this spring. The game has you using the Wii Remote like a slingshot and physics-based gameplay to launch anvils, tires, and other objects at the undead. The game is being developed by Gamers Digital, and will be released for 500 Wii Points. You might be sick of zombies, but I’m not; I’ll take any chance I can get to hit a ghoul in the face with an anvil....

You don’t often seeSilent Hillat the center of a “games made me do it” controversy, but a thirty-five-year-old man claims that Konami’s psychological horror seriesinspired himto break into a hospital basement and shut off the electricity. The man, identified only as Jan H., claims to have been in a state of psychosis and believed he was playing the game. Jan infiltrated the basement of Sophia Hospital in the Netherlands last April, where he shut off the power and forced a blackout for forty-five minutes....

We’ve been chatting with THQ about its post-apocalyptic subterranean FPSMetro 2033. In our last story, THQ welcomed comparisons to games likeFallout 3andSTALKER, but promised that2033would be unique in its own right. Blizzard’sDiablo IIIhas been pretty quiet lately, but a batch of fresh new screens has been dumped on the Internet’s doorstep, showing off the game’s desert environment. These screens will have to tide you over, because there’s still no word on this game arriving before 2011. A huge wait, most probably worth it but definitely agonizing....

Call me crazy, but I just haven’t felt a lot of excitement this year aboutFinal Fantasy XIII(or last year, for that matter).
