Ah, the new year. It’s almost upon us, and we’re ready to kick 2008 in the nuts and throw it sobbing into the cold, rainy streets, where all its stuff will get wet. GTFO. 2009 is moving into your room and we’re giving it your TV. How do you like that? Tonight, we’ll be recording our second annual List-o-rama, when we take a look back at the past year and put it all into list form, because we all suffer from terrible OCD....

You may recollect I was a bit of a sad panda over the supposedNovember releasedate forRhythm Heaven DS, the English-language version ofRhythm Tengoku Gold(better known as the best rhythm game on the DS EVER). Thanks to a little bit of matlocking fromSiliconera, it’s looking like that date was ever so wrong: Nintendo says “the first half of 2009”. Amazon, Gamefly and Best Buy now list the game for release in the first week of April, which beats the everliving hell out of November....

It’s been awhile since we’ve heard about a new zombie game. Has it been long enough that I’m in the clear to tell you aboutDead Block, an upcoming zombie defense game for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade? You’re not going to tell me in the comments that you’re “sick of zombie games” or anything, right? Set in the 1950s with what appears to be a “zany” cast of characters,Dead Blocklooks to have up to three players holing up and fending off undead hordes....

Those of you who want to kick up some dirt on the go, here’s one for you: U.K. videogame retailerGame have listeda PlayStation Portable version of Sony’s racerMotorstorm. That, unfortunately, is all of the info we have. As with all mysterious retail listings, one can’t put too much faith in their accuracy. However, history has shown us that there’s a fair chance someone, somewhere knows something we don’t. It’s also not unlikely that Sony would bring one of their franchises to their portable; see also:Resistance,Ratchet and Clank,God of War,Jak and Daxter,ATV Off Road Fury… you get the idea....

We don’t know the exact price of Sony’s upcoming portable, the NGP, but it looks like something that will be expensive. It’s a Sony device, after all. And like many other Sony gaming devices, it’s probably expensive to make. The latest rumor says that Sony may be tweaking the NGP to make it a bit less expensive for them to make. Who knows if that will be reflected in the cost....

I didn’t know I wanted a full length feature film based onPortaluntil last night. That’s when I first watchedDan Trachtenberg’smind-blowing seven minute short,Portal: No Escape. Now I can’t stop thinking about it. If you’ve never playedPortalor its sequel, shame on you. But know that there are no real spoilers contained in the short, so you’re free to watch. Even if you’ve never played Valve’s first-person puzzler, you won’t want to miss it....

Infinite Spaceis an upcoming DS title from Sega which places you in the shoes of a young hero named Yuri battling his way through space in what sounds to be a bit of a sci-fi epic. That sounds like it could be an interesting RPG to me, but unfortunately the video about contains no gameplay whatsoever, instead going with the anime movie approach instead. I like anime and everything, but I won’t lie — it’s doing nothing for me in this particular trailer....

It’s safe to say that a lot of people were taken by surprise when Kojima Productions first revealed they were working on aMetal Gear Solidtitle for the iPod Touch/iPhone. But according to Hideo Kojima himself, that wasn’t always the case. The original idea to port the IP to Apple’s device had been handled by Konami’s digital and mobile division. Kojima and company were only responsible for checking the content, making sure it fit with the feel of the series and its universe....

Pata-pata-pata-pon! Check out this teaser page from Sony Japan, but turn down your speakers, as there’s some crazy thunder sound effects that will randomly play. Or, you can just skip it, as I took a screenshot of the page (shown above). In Japanese it says “Beta test openining begins in 143 hours…” If you watch the background you’ll see a Patapon-ish world when the lightning strikes. While I’m always down for morePatapon, I’m hoping this is a teaser for a PS3 Patapon game, and not another PSP one....

Disney Epic Mickeywas released recently and it wasn’t perfect. With rather dull 3D platforming and a terrible camera, it had its problems for sure. Warren Spector doesn’t think so. In fact, he refuses to believe the camera is an issue at all, and stops just short of telling the complainers that theyplayed his game wrong. “There has never been a game that I couldn’t break if you give it to me for 30 seconds,” says Spector....
