Indie Nation #36: Karoshi 2

-Rule-breaking -Free, and downloadablehere. Since much ofKaroshi 2.0‘s charm comes from its ability to consistently surprise and befuddle the player, I won’t say anything more. Hit the jump for a more detailed explanation of why this game kicks butt, but be warned — you will be spoiling a lot of the fun for yourself, should you do so....

IO: Some reviewers didn’t ‘get’ Kane & Lynch 2

It would appear that “you didn’t get it” has officially become the popular way of developers to escape acknowledging criticism of their games. While talking aboutKane & Lynch 2, IO Interactive has joined the ranks of Silicon Knight, Factor 5 and Dark Energy Digital in transferring the blame of a poor review entirely to the reviewer. “I think it’s a game that you either love or hate,”says general manager Niels Jørgensen....

In fact, he doesn’t think he sees much of a future at all, and certainly not one with him in it. “I’m actually not thinking about a future in games. Learn the ways of awesome arcade remakes with Warlords

So how many of you remember whenAtari remade Warlordsand itdidn’t look at all that fun? Yeah, forget about that and watch this video. It’s really odd for a company to remake a game twice on the same platform, but who cares when the second attempt looks this good? From what I can tell Warlords is gonna feature a lighthearted medieval theme, epic sounding music, fast 4 player action and genuine strategy elements added in to the original arcade formula....

Live Show: Backlog Shifts more Time in TimeShift

Backlog is back with another installment and another bit of progress onTimeShift. When we last left your intrepid hero, he was being set upon by seemingly unending waves of highly-aggressive enemies who, while not particularly smart, take far more damage than one expects the human body capable of. And they do not relent (lest you stop time and take the gun from their hands which is, admittedly, pretty damn funny to watch)....

Live Show: More Deadly Creatures on Backlog

It’s a big world. It’s an even bigger world when viewed from a height of only a couple of inches. We’re playingDeadly Creaturesfor the Wii onBacklogright now and I’m finding it to be a pretty great game. Playing as the tarantula is completely different from playing as the scorpion, one favoring dexterity and the other raw power, and switching between the two so frequently keeps it fresh. And I thought that I was going to feel dizzy or disoriented with all of the wall crawling but the camera manages to keep up most of the time and I’m impressed....
