PS2 still the most-used console in Japan

Attendees were surveyed at the last Tokyo Game Show, and from the results it seems that all of the attendees are still stuck in the past, myself and Jonathan Holmes included. It seems that 70 percent of the 1,000 attendees questioned in an exit poll by the General Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) were still all about their PS2s, picking it as their most-used console. That’s down from an all-time high a couple of years back, when it was at 79 percent....

Retro City Rampage ain’t afraid of no ghosts

A new gameplay video ofRetro City Rampagehas surfaced, featuring the game’s Arcade mode. It’s an 8-bit killing field as folks are mercilessly run down with a variety of weapons. Review: Contra ReBirth

The surreal mixing of Hollywood references, real-life political terminology, and sci-fi craziness has long been a staple of Konami action games, but theContraseries takes that special brand of weirdness to another level. In real life, a “Contra” is a member of the guerrilla force that opposed a left-wing government in Nicaragua in the 1970s. In the Konami games, a “Contra” is a muscular Stallone/Schwarzenegger look-alike who battles jungle aliens while shirtless, sometimes in the 1970s....
