It’s kind of a given that the “big three” have some overlap with the third-party booths at gaming events like the Tokyo Game Show, set to kick off in about two weeks. Much of what Sony’s showing isn’t first-party developed, but that’s not a bad thing. If anything, we can look at Sony’s booth as a sort of one-stop shop for good games…mostly. Kotakuput together a list of the expected playable offerings for both the PSP and the PlayStation 3 for the show this year, and we see that there’s some good stuff in there....

The PromiseStation 3 is back in full effect, with Sony’s David Reeves following the corporate line of stating thatthings will be greatin the far-flung future. Sony has always been about saying, “next year, things will be different.” Reeves, to his credit, has decided to say that three to five years is more realistic. “I don’t think it will be next year, but in three to five years it will become dominant on the market,” claims Reeves....

What does a Square Enix boss play when he’s not getting pounded by enemy encounters on a straight, narrow pathway that you may’t back out of?Heavy Rain, apparently. According to Famitsu magazine, Yoichi Wada has been playing the PS3 exclusive lately, and it seems like he’s digging it. He told Famitsu, “It would be good if they made more games like Heavy Rain.” I’m sure he likes it. I liked it....

You already know that Konami’sSuikodenrole-playing game series is making the jump to the Nintendo DS. What we weren’t clear on is just how the new online mode ofSuikoden: Tierkreiswill work. Today Konami spills the beans. You know how theSuikodenseries centers around a massive cast of 108 characters? Now Konami is trying to put that element to use in this new online mode where you may actually farm out your heroes to other DS players....

Epic Games has finally revealed the winners of its second “Make Something Unreal” mod contest, and the winner is…The Haunted. Described as a “fast paced third-person horror-action game,”The Hauntedhas players “liberating cursed places from the minions of evil.” The title features a handful of multiplayer games, including four-player co-op versus AI-controlled baddies, or demons vs. humans. It also looks like you cankick demons in the face and they will explode. Seriously, look at that screenshot up there!...

In the United Kingdom, Her Majesty the Queen broadcasts her traditional Christmas speech across the nation, usually rattling off a list of banal statements in a completely disaffected voice. From the thought that it’s not a “real”Zeldagame, due to the radically different play style (despite the fact that at two games deep, there was no realZeldaformula). Or that it was too hard, and people are pussies, and that maybe falling in to water and drowning because you’re carrying half a damned kingdom on an invisible tool belt makes people cry because life is unfair....

I just boughtThe Warriorson Blu-Ray last week, so this trailer for the upcoming beat-em-up caught my eye.The Warriors: Street Brawlis supposedly coming to the download services in September and, thus, a promotional video came to be. Admittedly, the trailer makes the game look really ugly. It does look like simple, arcade-style fun, though and I’m always looking for something with four-player co-op.
