Earlier this week, we got word that the PSN port ofFinal Fantasy IXwas nearing completion. How close are they? According to Square Enix Producer Shinji Hashimoto, it’s now finished and awaiting a final release date. Wait, didn’t the headline say that there was a date? Indeed. A few hours after Hashimoto told the world of the game’s completion via Twitter, he returned to say that a date had been determined. Japanese PSN users will be able to downloadFinal Fantasy IXon May 20th....
Square Enix once said that DLC hadnot been plannedforFinal Fantasy XIII, but the publisher never quite ruled it out and today there are hints that extra content could definitely arrive. XIII’s director, Motomu Toriyama, has told gamers that they’ll need to keepXIIInearby “forever,” because some treats may be on the way. “From the announcement at E3 2006, we’ve at last reached this day.Final Fantasy XIIIis released today,” says Toriyamain a messageto Japanese fans....

Former SCEE president Chris Deeringhas today suggestedthat Sony will eventually catch up to Nintendo, leading to a joint victory this hardware generation. Meanwhile, Microsoft is supposedly fated to bring up the rear in third place. Deering predicts that the magic year for Sony shall be 2011. The former Sony executive arrived at his conclusion by examining Screen Digest IDG data, as well as looking at the growth of the hi-def and so-called “grey gamer” markets....
PR firm Reverb Communications has come under fire from the FTC for getting its employees to anonymously write reviews on iTunes without disclosing their working relationship with the title. The company was sneakily giving its own games glowing summaries, and that’s apparently considered quite shady. Reverb has become the first “victim” of the new Internet endorsement guidelines imposed last year. The guidelines require advertising agencies to be open about their connection to the products they’re endorsing, be it on a blog, via Twitter, or on iTunes....
Surprise! Rockstar GamesL.A. Noire actually exists! Game Informerhas revealed its March issue and as some had expected, the cover features the billion-years-in-development title. The magazine’s 10-page spread mentions that the title will feature an “astonishing reconstruction of 1947 Los Angeles,” and uses a “groundbreaking facial-animation system.” Lip curling and eye-brow twitching confirmed. Yes folks, it’s time for more of everybody’s favorite singing sensation, Tonetta! Now, I was among those who raised an eyebrow when Barack Obama won the Peace Prize for basically being a trendy politician, but I did not take my grievance to the heights that Tonetta has done — donning blackface and writing a scathing political song about it. AnUncharted 2: Among Thievesmultiplayer demo will be available before the game hits store shelves this October. The demo won’t be available as a cost-free download over PlayStation Network. Gaining access to it will require some cash. The bastion of civilization, GameStop, is currently offering the multiplayer demo as an exclusive gift for those willing to reserve the title. Leon Chameleon is the third character to be revealed forAwesomenauts, and when I played the game for a bit earlier this year, he was one of my favorites. Being able to cloak and leave a copy of yourself is a MOBA troll’s dream come true, especially when you can upgrade said copy to run around and do damage. Here’s a beefy video forHalo: Reach. It’s an extended version of the “Deliver Hope” live-action trailer releasedlast week. How extended? How about a full minute and then some? Does that kick you in the britches? All that extra time was put to good use by investing in dramatic pauses. Seriously, what’s with the Spartan holding a bomb near detonation, seeing that there’s thousands of Covenant mucking about and then deciding to ponder for a bit before chucking the explosive....
