MDK2 coming to Wii and PC

MDK2is quite the game. It’s a little weird, but a total blast to play with some really creative level design for its three playable characters. Or so I’m told. I’ve never actually dug into it because I have a fear of characters with large pointy heads (damn you,Silent Hill!). However, if I can overcome my largiapointyheadphobia by later this year I will have another chance to play the game as Interplay and Beamdog have announced that the BioWare-developed game will be getting a Wii and PC release....

Mega Man made out of Post-it Notes is an awesome thing

Awesome, no? In case the headline didn’t quite spell it out for you enough, that is Mega Man made entirely out of Post-it Notes on a college dorm room wall. Not only does it look perfect, but it boggles my mind that one can find Post-it Notes in the exact color scheme of Mega Man (except for the black evidently). There are either far more Post-it Note colors in the world than I knew about, or that is an incredible coincidence....

Minecraft servers are back up, go buy it

Several of the editors on Destructoid spent time this weekend taking advantage of theMinecraftserver downtimewhich allowed everybody to hop on and play the game for free. What can I say? We’re too busy counting all of our blogger money to actually spend any of it. But, from the watercooler talk I’m hearing tonight, it sounds like the title has managed to pry open the tight fists of our staff who seem to be buying in now that the servers are back online....

MK vs. DC Universe writer tells fans to lighten up

If it’s notDiabloorFallout“fans” bitching to anyone who’ll listen, it’s comic book geeks whimpering and whining thatMortal Kombat Vs. DC Universeisn’t realistic. Yes, we’re now nitpicking about realism in a world where characters can fly or areliving skeleton ninjas. Luckily, the man currently penning the collaborationhad something to sayabout it. “Why is that guy fighting that guy?” asked game writer and comic author Jimmy Palmiotti, before answering himself: “Well, ha! Why? Because it’s fun, that’s why....

Moore: Apple rips you off, EA gives you strawberry kisses and gumdrop wishes

Peter Moore’s week of headline-generating comments has drawn to a close, and it’s ended on abold claimindeed. The EA Sports chief has called out iTunes provider Apple and accused its service of ripping the consumer off. Comparing EA’s digitial distribution plans to Steve Job’s fleecing, the former feline Microsoft man had this to say: We need to look three years into the future and say it’s going to be a completely different business, because of broadband connections....

More Strong Bad: three trailers from the upcoming Wiiware title

Yesterday,I came bearing newsof Strong Bad and his irresistible-sounding new game for Wiiware,Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People. I waited until late in the day per the word of the kind Telltale PR peeps that trailers and screenshots would come, but the longer I waited the more restless I became. I had PRECIOUS information — Strong Bad coming in playable form! And yet I had to wait. It’s not hard to see why I suffered such impatience....

Mortal Kombat may ‘fix’ itself when you’re not looking

It looks like theMortal Kombatyou’re all playing now may not be theMortal Kombatyou’ll be playing down the line. I’m not talking about a patch or a new release, I’m talking about changes that might be made to the game without the player knowing it. Series creator Ed Boon tells Eurogamer that “InMortal Kombatwe have a system where we can make adjustments to the special moves and balance things out even after the game has been released,” and that his team “… can do it without having players have to download a patch....

Mortal Kombat really did have the best game-based movie

My wife’s a bigMortal Kombatfan, and so it’s been a pretty Kombat-heavy week over here. Not only is the game being played almost constantly, we’ve also been celebrating by watching theMortal Kombatmovie, which fans will recognize as having the unofficial title, “Battle For Man Island.” The film has long been considered a joke, but the more I watch it, the more I feel I have to respect it. No, it’s not a great film, barely able to compete with even the silliest kung-fu movie, but it is a great videogame-based movie....

Did you forget that your copy ofRock Band Unpluggedhad a Music Store? Harmonix and MTV Games didn’t!Today, it announced that four new tracks are available to download right now, for a $1.99 a piece. Fire up the store right now to find: I likeRock Band Unplugged, and even after I was done playing it for review, I pick it up from time to time. MS believes Avatars are more popular than Gears of War 2?

According to Xbox Australia, NXE Avatarsare rankingamongst the country’s most popular wastes of time. Being “played” more than likes ofGears of War 2andGrand Theft Auto IV, the Avatar Editor would rank at number four on the Xbox Live retail chart if it were a retail game. Perhaps it’s because Australia has spent so long with neutered or banned games that it’s forgotten what quality software is, but I’m struggling to rationalize the idea of Xbox Avatars getting so much “play” time inanycountry....

NCAA Football 11: Approaching Madden, but retaining its own identity

EA Sports’NCAA Footballfranchise has tended to lag behind its elder brother,Madden NFL, in terms of the implementation of new features and improvements. That is, you usually see the new stuff hitMaddenfirst, and come toNCAA Footballthe following year (or sometimes later). This year, EA Tiburon — the developer of both titles — seems to be making a concerted effort to equalize the franchises in that sense. ButMaddenandNCAAFare still distinct games, as they should be....
