Saints Row 2 teaser site is a go, because the first one was SO AWESOME (snigger)

You know, I really wasn’t fond of the originalSaints Row. The whole thing had such an immature vibe, like it was trying to beGrand Theft Auto, but figuredGTAwas just pimps and brutality. It didn’t have the satirical wit that went with the mindless violence and titty/drug references. In essence,Saints RowwasGrand Theft Autowithout the sense of style and class that Rockstar pulls off. It was imitation of the worst kind — imitation that misses the point....

On the night prior to the two-day Sony Gamers Day event, the company had a “cocktail hour” to get the gaming journalists all loosened up. One of the highlights of the party wasSingStarfor the PlayStation 3. Equipped with two mics and a camera, drunk and disorderly video game journalists stepped up to face their eventual demise. Here is the proof of such a debacle, thanks to head Sony PR man David Karraker who wanted us all to see this video at the end of the event while we were in the Sony motion capture hall....

Sony 1, Kotaku 1 Or I guess depending on how you look at it, maybe Kotaku won. Who knows? But what I do know is that Brian Crecente hasbig brass ballsand my blogger in arms stood up to Sony and seems to have gotten disinvited from every Sony event and basically stripped of his Sony manhood. Here’s the storythat caused the drama andhere’s what went downbecause of it: When I responded that we were going forward with the story and that sometimes news doesn’t come from official sources I was told that if we published we would likely be blackballed by the company....

Sony’s surprise sequel isn’t Resistance 3

Yesterday, Sony teased the world like a little trollop with the promise of a surprise sequel announcement. Most gamers bet that it would beResistance 3, but Insomniac and Sony have declared that this obvious game wasn’t correct. Why, that’s nowhere near surprising enough! Insomniac’s James Stevenson confirmed that, while he knows what the surprise game is, it’s “not a title from Insomniac.” So, although we’re all pretty certain thatResistance 3is coming, that won’t be the new game officially announced this week....

Subtitles a video gaming necessity?

A deaf gamer has brought up what may well be an very important and overlooked point. In a letter he sent to the ESA, and now reprinted byKotaku, he points out that a great deal of the modern gameplay experience is lost by deaf and hard of hearing gamers through the absence of subtitles as a standard, across the board feature. While maybe not something a lot of gamers and developers consider, this failure to include something presumably so simple to integrate really is an obvious oversight in modern game design....

Super Street Fighter IV TV spot is super hot

Playing a preview buildofSuper Street Fighter IVhas already turned my apathy about the title into excitement. But this television spot — which Capcom says will be running on networks like Adult Swim, BET, MTV, and more — has me more amped up than ever. The slick spot, inspired by urban art, features a mixture of in-game animation and handdrawn style animations. The cherry on top is Just Blaze who yells about some stuff (and as he tends to do, says his own name) before telling me to pre-orderSuper Street Fighter IVnow....
