You know, I really wasn’t fond of the originalSaints Row. The whole thing had such an immature vibe, like it was trying to beGrand Theft Auto, but figuredGTAwas just pimps and brutality. It didn’t have the satirical wit that went with the mindless violence and titty/drug references. In essence,Saints RowwasGrand Theft Autowithout the sense of style and class that Rockstar pulls off. It was imitation of the worst kind — imitation that misses the point....

Sega has sent out emails to members of its Sega Pass online network to warn of a recent breach of data. “Over the last 24 hours we have identified that unauthorized entry as gained to our Sega Pass database,” the email reads. The company is still looking into the extent of the breach, but says that a “subset of Sega pass members email addresses, dates of birth and encrypted passwords were obtained....

A 20th anniversary bash is happened this weekend in Japan for Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog. Tokyo’s Odaiba (I love that place!) hosted Sega VIPs and fans to celebrate Sonic’s birthday, and it was there that a new iPhone app was announced. They even hada Sonic cake! Yesterday, Sony teased the world like a little trollop with the promise of a surprise sequel announcement. Most gamers bet that it would beResistance 3, but Insomniac and Sony have declared that this obvious game wasn’t correct. Why, that’s nowhere near surprising enough! Insomniac’s James Stevenson confirmed that, while he knows what the surprise game is, it’s “not a title from Insomniac.” So, although we’re all pretty certain thatResistance 3is coming, that won’t be the new game officially announced this week....

Capcom’sSuper Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remixis great, but not perfect. And according to the game’s producer, Rey Jimenez, there’s a patch on the way. Unfortunately, he’s not saying what the patch does … yet. “Capcom has been listening and we will be fixing many of the issues that many of you have been experiencing,” he writes on theCapcom blogbefore adding, “I am unable to disclose the patch contents now.”...

A deaf gamer has brought up what may well be an very important and overlooked point. In a letter he sent to the ESA, and now reprinted byKotaku, he points out that a great deal of the modern gameplay experience is lost by deaf and hard of hearing gamers through the absence of subtitles as a standard, across the board feature. While maybe not something a lot of gamers and developers consider, this failure to include something presumably so simple to integrate really is an obvious oversight in modern game design....

Playing a preview buildofSuper Street Fighter IVhas already turned my apathy about the title into excitement. But this television spot — which Capcom says will be running on networks like Adult Swim, BET, MTV, and more — has me more amped up than ever. The slick spot, inspired by urban art, features a mixture of in-game animation and handdrawn style animations. The cherry on top is Just Blaze who yells about some stuff (and as he tends to do, says his own name) before telling me to pre-orderSuper Street Fighter IVnow....

Warner Bros. has confirmed that Supergiant Games’ (in my opinion) excellentBastionis hitting PC on August 16. The PC version ofBastionwill be $14.99, and will be DRM-free. For those who purchase and play the game through Valve’s Steam, the title will support cloud saving. So you know, you can rebuild the bastion all over the place, no restrictions. For those curious, yes, the game will feature re-worked controls for you mice and keyboard PC folks....
