Destructoid Discusses! Did someone say emulation?

Hey everyone, this week I’m taking a suggestion from Hamsa and throwing out the dark topic of emulation. We had some good points of view in another thread when we were talking aboutChrono Triggerfor the SNES, so we figured there’s plenty to discuss. I mean, really, is there even one of us that doesn’t have an R4, a stack of “back-up” games, or a modified PSP? I’ve been seriously eying the PSP for awhile since it has now become the best portable emulator for just about everything....

Developer will continue to ‘move camera gaming forward’ somehow

Yesterday, an EyeToy designer toldgamesindustry.bizthat developers (Zoe Mode) forYou’re in the Moviesare using “technical elements that are not reliable” and that Microsoft has done a particularly poor job supporting its Xbox Live Vision Camera. Today, Zoe Mode’s executive producer Paul Mottram fired back by saying that the studio is pushing camera technology forward. Certainly background segmentation is a non trivial task but feel we should embrace the challenge in order to move camera gaming forward....

Devs are mostly cautious about Natal

Since Natal’s announcement the interwebs have been a roller coaster ride of judgement for the motion/camera tech. It seems everyone has weighed in fromNick Chester’s singing vaginato Jim Sterling’s long lost fourth cousing, twice removed (it’s a long story). But what about the people who actually matter? You know, the guys designing the games, the developers themselves. It seems they’re as skeptical about the tech as a platform as the rest of us....

Disgaea 4’s special attacks are crazier than ever

It looks like NIS is pulling out all the stops when it comes toDisgaea 4, and if this trailer is any indication, that includes the one preventing lunatics from designing the PlayStation 3-bound strategy game’s special attack animations. That’s a good thing, I say. Just look at some of the stunts on display! I especially like the one that uses the classicDisgaeapeople-stack to body-slam an enemyinto the moon. And they didn’t even get into the attacksthat summon characters from various unrelated anime and manga IPs....

Don King tries to make sense in Prizefighter trailer

While watching this GameTrailers exclusive trailer forPrizefighter, I was trying really hard to forget that the game’s developer, Venom Games, were responsible for last-gen’sRockyandRocky Legends. While not exactly terrible games, both games were competing head-to-head with EA Chicago’sFight Nightgames, and the results weren’t pretty. But with EA Chicago on the outs, and noofficialword on a newFight Nightgame, 2K’sPrizefighterlooks like it may be the only option to control digital pugilists in the near future....

Know any good senior gameplay prorammers or senior producers? If you do, you might want to let them know thatBrutal Legendmakers Double Fine are looking for people. You’ll also want to let those folks know that they’ll be working on an “original IP.” As these things usually go, the Help Wanted listings do little to give us a picture of what they’re actually working on next, but we can hope its a new thing....

Surely you’ve already seen our E3 predictions from a real psychic. Some of her predictions look and sound solid, while others are ones we know won’t come true. Ever. Our readers were quick to draw comparisons between these mystical readings and a professional analyst’s reports, so we thought it would be fun to put the two forces together for some head-to-head action....

E3 10: Retail Kinect pricing ‘purely speculative’

At its E3 press conference, Microsoft was more than happy to be forthcoming with the release date for its hot-item Kinect. But on the subject of pricing, its lips are sealed. Earlier today, we reported that GameStop put up a listing for peripheral, priced at $149.99. Unsurprisingly, Microsoft won’t confirm or deny the cost, instead reiterating what we already know: it hasn’t announced a price. “Retail prices are purely speculative,” wrote Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg on hisTwitter accountin response to the pricing reports....

EA craves sequels for Dead Space, Army of Two, and Battlefield: Bad Company

EA has surprised more than a few people this past year with a slew of new IPs and an improving image in the eyes of many, myself included. However, you have got to make sequels to fund these new properties, and you better believe EA has some sequels in store for us. We already told you about howMirror’s Edgeis aplanned trilogy, but that’s nothing compared to whatVariety was toldrecently. EA Games president Frank Gibeau revealed that there is a “sequel idea planned” for bothBattlefield: Bad CompanyandArmy of Two, which makes perfect sense when you look at how unbelievably well the latter game sold....

Elite Beat Agents 2 announced, fingers everywhere blister

Nintendo has just released its 2007 Japanese release schedule. Very obvious tickets likeSuper Mario GalaxyandSuper Smash Bros. Brawlfor the Wii make appearances, but the biggest surprise has to be the inclusion ofOuendan 2for the DS. The originalOuendan(released asElite Beat Agentshere in the States) was nothing short of brilliant and easily one of my favorite games for the Nintendo handheld. Although a sequel seemed inevitable, this news is still just as sweet as it is unexpected....
