Bargain Bin Laden #3: Mobile Light Force 2

Settle down, children, and let ol’ BBL tell you a tale; a tale of mystery, intrigue, and ultimate suffering. It is a story of Japanese shooters and their horrible and inappropriately localized US counterparts, of witchcraft, and sailboats. It’s the story ofMobile Light Force 2. I was lying about the sailboats. The witchcraft, on the other hand — you’ll have to read to find out. Seriously, you would’ve figured that we’ve come far enough along that publishers wouldn’t screw with original content in such a way, but XS Games done and gone proved me wrong....

The soundtrack will be out October 4th, two weeks before the game. If you are getting the collectors edition ofArkham City, a download code for the soundtrack will automatically be included. I’m not really into music, I don’t own that many soundtracks, but if I enjoy the music from a game, movie or show enough I have no problem paying money for some sweet tunes....

Beyond Black Mesa short film

Remember that trailera few monts back forthat fan-madeHalf-Lifemovie calledBeyond Black Mesa? The full short is now out and here it is for your viewing pleasure. Personally, I didn’t think too much of it. I like the production quality and all, but nothing about it is memorable like say theModern War Gear Solidseries. Maybe I’m just taking my frustration out on this because of the lack ofHalf-Life 3news. Who knows. Whatever, it’s 3AM right now....

Cal Ripken’s Real Baseball: you mean, it’s not an NES game?

Some of you might be wondering what Cal Ripken, Jr. is doing with his life. Well, after retiring in 2001 and becoming a first-ballot Hall of Fame inductee last January, the charismatic class act has taken the next logical step for a famous athlete: he’s lent his name to a baseball videogame. ButCal Ripken’s Real Baseball— or, as I like to call it, “bland, generic videogame title #143” — is not your typical annual-installment sports title....

Castle Crashers fans get creative with sneakers, papercraft and more

Apparently Destructoid aren’t the only ones sucking off the developers ofCastle Crashers, as some of our more eloquent commenters sometimes like to say. The game has spawned a ton of fan-made art, sighted onThe Behemoth’s official blog. While the papercraft are probably my favorite as I have a soft spot for them, I’m also loving that crazy drawing from a Trader Joe’s sign (the artist there is toting some serious talent)....

Cave’s latest XBLA title is a pleasant surprise

Cave has announced its next Xbox Live Arcade game, and it’s not a re-release of a classic shoot-’em-up. Heck, it’s not even a new shmup. Instead, the company is putting out a platformer by the name ofNin2-Jump. Rolls off the tongue there, huh? Most notably, the game captures the essence of shadow puppetry. In terms of mechanics,Nin2-Jumpseems fairly straightforward — which, to me, works fine in conjunction with the unusual premise....

Freelance illustrator Ross Dearsley hasnow revealed(viasuperannuation) a slew of character concepts for this next-genRoad Rashsequel.
