Today I visited my pals over at Rockstar to get a first-hand look ofThe Warriorsfor the PSP. I spent about an hour total with the game, playing through the beginning and other various modes and later missions. What did I come away with? For $20, this thing ain’t half bad. Though it is more or less a straight port from the console version (no new missions or levels), the game is actually very well-suited for the handheld — you see, there are no guns inWarriors, so it’s basically a brawler which makes the PSP experience much more enjoyable....

It’s a bit old, but we never got around to posting. In any case, just watch and be amazed. You are not ready. Dale North, our man in Japan, went to AOU 2011 and brought us some coverage of all the happenings including someLove Plusstuff. Additionally, Jim Sterling did some journalism and looked into allegations at Top War, the makers ofTwo Worlds. It was a quiet weekend, but some good stuff popped up....

Thanks to sad infomercials and brilliant impact aisle placement in Wal-Marts and CVSes across North America, Snuggies are all the rage. Like a tender cotton body bag, these sensational products keep numerous (old) folks warm while watching the television or other similar immobile activities — like hacking dudes inGears of War. WithToo Human‘s release date fast approaching, it seems that Denis Dyack’s mouth isrunning into overdrive. Here we have a couple of videos ofEnslaved: Odyssey to the Westthat Namco Bandai has been kind enough to furnish. The first shows the technologically-inclined Trip building a robotic dragonfly and then using it for reconnaissance. The second, seen below, features Monkey fighting a giant robot. The two videos seem to be indicative of their individual skills but I’m just taking a wild stab in the dark here. It looks beautiful, in my opinion....

Hey, do you remember how Europe’s trade-off for having to wait a possible six months forSuper Smash Bros. Brawlwas the fact that we’d be gettingMario Kart Wiiearly? Well, think again, because despite the fact thatBrawlis way more anticipated thanMario Kart(as confirmed by Reggie himself), it’s been revealed that Europe only gets the game sixteen days ahead of America. Poor Prince. I don’t know what I expected, but after seeing Jake Gyllenhaal as the Prince in thePrince of Persiamovie trailer on tonight’s VGAs, I expected more for the game’s counterpart. But the game’s Prince? He looks rough! Beefy and odd.Wispyis my word. Nothing like what I expected. “Heroically lanky” is what I think I wanted out of a Prince. This dude’s got a perm or something. And eye makeup....

Videogames provide the perfect tools for pure escapism or utter powerlessness. As a fully interactive media, the player can be as involved as the developer in the fate of our characters, or we can be utterly impotent in swaying our destiny, with our fated path foretold in the coding. You can’t blame Nintendo for going back to the well when the well is one hundred meters of unmitigated excellence. That’s why the Nintendo levels of the Wario Ware titles have always been the best; tuggin’ on the nostalgia-strings of gamers everywhere.
