Onett in 3D is pretty neato

This video is a year old, which means it’s positively ancient. But I hadn’t seen it, which led me to believe that there may be others who have not seen it. By that, I mean others who are interested inEarthboundand might appreciate a 3D rendering of the town of Onett. The video, created by Benn Friedrich, is pretty amazing. It brings the town of Onett alive in a big way and, at the same time, reminds me of the lamentable fact that we’ll likely never see anything like this crop up on a Wii....

OOT2D creator not quite dead

I wish I could say “I told you so”, but I didn’t write the post. But if Ididgo through with some long-winded rant about how Richard Denton, creator of the fabledOcarina of Time 2Dfan projectcouldn’t possibly be dead, you may be damn sure I’d be laughing about this now. Oh, okay, I’ll laugh anyway.Hah! As it turns out, Denton’s been pretty busy — you know, for a dead guy. Since the news of his untimely demise broke, his MSN and MySpace accounts have been active, and legions of Internet Detectives have picked apart the story of his fatal car accident, searching for police records and news reports, any evidence of a Richard Denton eatin’ it on a stretch of highway....

Pachter: Sony not cutting price in 2009 ‘would be a mistake’

I guessWedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter feels that 2009 is critical to Sony. I’m not necessarily with him on that, though. Is being in last place really that dire of a situation? He tellsCVGthat Sony “is falling behind at a rapid pace,” stating that a price cut is needed. No argument there. “The most important thing for the company to do is to get the PS3 production cost down, and it appears to be making progress on that front,” said the analyst....

PlayStation Move: About 1.5 million units sold in Europe

We told you about how well Sony is doing this morning, but did so without number data. It’s not that we didn’t believe Sony, but we like being on the same page. The numbers for the PlayStation Move controller are very strong already. Andrew House, Sony’s head in Europe, says that about 1.5 milllion Move controllers have been sold already. That’s just Europe! “The initial sales response has been so far in excess of our initial plan that we’ll probably be looking at accelerating production,†House toldBloomberg....

PSP fire may have been caused by third party charger (not the fires of puberty)

You may recollect a news report we brought you in early February about a middle school student whosePSP caught fire in his pants, causing second degree burns and likely making the poor kid the butt of jokes for weeks afterward. It seems recent research is pointing in the direction of the after-market charger used with the system rather than the PSP itself. Pelican Accessories haven’t made a public statement regarding this possibility as of yet....

Ready the cryogenic pods: New Fez footage

Polytron’s perspective-changing platformerFez is, without a doubt, one of themost anticipatedgames among those who try to keep up with the independent scene. The longer we wait — and wait a long time we have — the more appealing this game seems to become. As far as I know, it’s still on for a 2011 release on Xbox Live Arcade. Wouldn’t be surprised if it shows up in one of Microsoft’s multi-game promotional events....

Reggie says that Wii owners won’t want PlayStation Move

Nintendo of America’s beefburger boss, Reggie Fils-Aime, has declared that if you have a Wii, you don’t really have any motivation to drop another few hundred bucks on a PS3 with PlayStation Move. Doesn’t sound like Nintendo’s threatened at all by the Sony Wiimote. “So I’m a consumer and I’m having a great experience with my Wii,” declares Reggie. “And we know that’s the case – we look at the software that’s being purchased....

Capcom has reduced the price of its iPhone title,Resident Evil 4: Platinum Editionto 99c, or 59p for the Brits! I’ve wanted to play this game but was waiting for a price drop like this because I am a cheap, stingy, mean bastard. Now I’ve got what I wanted, so I’m downloading it as I type this.
