Obsidian talks favorite Alpha Protocol moments

The seventh installment in a series of behind-the-scenes videos forAlpha Protocolis all about favorites. Obsidian’s favorite characters, gadgets, set pieces, etc. — who better to highlight sections of the game than the very people actively creating it? To be frank, I haven’t been keeping up with these videos prior to this one. PurchasingAlpha Protocolis more or less a guarantee at this point, so why bother? But, I will say that lucky number seven was a fun watch....

OLPC now has games! Is there anything MIT can’t do?

TheOne Laptop Per Childinitiative is a brilliant, heartwarming work of charity designed to bring the magic and wonder (read: porn) of the internet to children in less developed countries all over the world. Imagine that you’re a poor, starving child in Africa dreaming of all the fat, slow American kids you would love to devour; well now you may actually meet them in chat rooms, and possibly convince them to stop writing bad poetry and send you a chicken leg or a rack of lamb or a lizard orsomethingso you don’t have to eat dust again!...

Only super-cool dudes can beat Flood the Chamber

About twenty minutes ago, the headline to this post would have been something along the lines of, “whomever madeFlood the Chambercan go f*ck himself and die because he’s a bad person and he caused me emotional pain,” but I’ve since beaten it and have come to terms with the frustration it made me feel. Also, that title is way too long. Flood the Chamberis a one-screen platformer. You control a tiny-ass rogue in a big-ass chamber which is (as you may have guessed) slowly flooding with water....

OXM teases reboot for Xbox 360 that isn’t Halo: CE

It’s notHalo: Combat Evolved. You got that? Good. Sorry, but I had toget that out of the way.OXMis — or should I saywas— primed to reveal “one of the best games ever made” getting a reboot for Xbox 360 in its next issue. The publisher has since pushed the announcement back, so we won’t find out“for the foreseeable future,” according toOXMeditor Jon Hicks. Bummer. But it’s not a total loss. Apparently, the game in question is not an Xbox exclusive necessarily, and one of the comments on the original post by CVG, linked below, contains the correct answer....

PAX 09: Ubisoft make Splinter Cell joke trailer, we laugh

One of the bad things about PAX is that I’m not there (yes, I will be whining all weekend), but one of the good things about it is companies seem to lay back a bit while they are there. It’s not about business like it is at E3, it’s just about gaming. Ubisoft has plopped right down in the Lay-Z-Boy armchair that is PAX and gone and memed upSplinter Cell: Conviction....

Peter Moore unleashes the SMUG. Also, PS3 = Dreamcast now?

Like a child who’s been served a bigger scoop of ice cream than his brother, Microsoft’s Peter Moore is acting (to use the rhyming slang of my cockney brethren) quite the “shmug blunt” lately. In an interview foundhere, Moore derides the PS3 while showing off shamelessly and withgusto. “I’ve walked a mile in those shoes. I’m digging up my tortured past here, but remember Dreamcast?” The words of Peter Moore, doubtlessly said in suppressed laughter that caused his face to turn purple like some sort of insane, sentient eggplant....
