Destructoid review: Siren: Blood Curse

Silent Hill: HomecomingandResident Evil 5aren’t due until next year, and so in this gap of horror titles comes the remake of the PlayStation 2 titleSiren. The original was considered an equal toSilent Hillin terms of its scariness, but had laughably-bad voice acting that left the game in some level of obscurity. Now, the game comes alive as a remake for the PS3, one of the other few titles available on the PlayStation Network as a fully-downloadable game....

Deus Ex: Human Revolution will offer highlighting options

Fans ofDeus Exhave beenpretty vocalabout “highlighting” in the upcomingDeus Ex: Human Revolution, and Eidos Montreal has responded. If you want to, you’ll be able to turn object highlights and objective locators off in the options menu. Furthermore, the difficulty settings include a “Give me Deus Ex” hard mode which turns the object highlights and objective locators off by default. But if you want to turn them on or off in any difficulty you have chosen, you may still do that as well....

Developer trashes the SIXAXIS

Yesterday brought a very special Valentine’s Day gift from the folks atComputerandvideogames.com(CVG). In it they show us that not everybody loves the SIXAXIS as much as big Ken Kutagari thinks they should. If you’ve played with the SIXAXIS you might not find this too surprising.Of course, it would be at this point that the true blue Sonyphile (or Jack Tretton, whom I will now forever refer to asMr. Fibby McFibberson), would then clearly state that it is only a matter of time before developers learn to utilize the true potential of the controller....

Disney Universe will let you be Wall-E

Disneyhas decided that the 42nd Anniversary of Neil Armstrong’s stroll around the Moon is the perfect opportunity to unveil another environment for their gameDisney Universe. Along with Tim Burton’sAlice in WonderlandandMonsters Inc., the game will also feature aWALL-Elevel, which will let players dress up as both of the main characters (WALL-E and EVE) while causing adorable mischief. Originally this post was going to be sarcastic, since I think using a historic event like the Moon landing to promote a video game that has nothing to do with the Moon is ridiculous (I still think it’s silly)....

Dragon Age designer on fan response: ‘It’s a compliment’

It’s not uncommon for fans of upcoming games to go on media blackouts — actively avoiding screenshots, trailers, and previews so as not to spoil their initial impressions. So far, that hasn’t been difficult withDragon Age II— if you weren’t at E3 or PAX this year, chances are you haven’t seen it in action. “Where’s my PC footage?” has become the battle cry, explains lead designer Mike Laidlaw. As is (unfortunately) common in game fandom, people are assuming the worst, but Laidlaw’s taking it in stride....

Dynasty Warriors 6 Special: Zhang He busts out the claws

Make no mistake, I am bloody narked off that Koei decided to fillDynasty Warriors 6with cloned characters and is now making a PlayStation 2 version of the game with de-cloned warriors, but I am such a sucker for Zhang He that the return of his claws is enough to squeeze some forgiveness from me. Below are the current CG renders of “de-cloned” characters with unique weapons that didn’t appear in the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version of the game....

E3 08: Valkyria Chronicles hands-on

For those that love strategy role-playing games, Sega’s upcoming titleValkyria Chroniclesis a no-brainer. But, in the pictures and footage we’ve seen over the last year, it seems that there’s some appeal here for the non-SRPG fan as well. I couldn’t tell from myTGS Japanese-language hands-onlast year, but my first English-language hands-on session at E3 with the title confirms some of that. There truly is a little bit of something for everyone inValkyria Chronicles....

E3 09: Microsoft is pulling the plug on Xbox Originals

Xbox Originals, the overpriced, but extremely useful (if you have a large enough hard drive) service that allows original Xbox titles to be downloaded and played on an Xbox 360, is on life support. As reported by IGN, Microsoft has “finished its portfolio” of games, so to speak. After one additional unannounced Xbox game becomes an Original, the service will not be updated further. Perhaps this has to do with the newly-announced “Games on Demand” service, which provides full retail Xbox 360 titles for download?...

E3 10: ION speaks on mystery ‘Total Control’ controller

Yesterday, we anonymouslyreceived images of a rather strange looking ION-branded controller. We reached out to ION to see what it had to say about the unannounced product, and it was surprisingly forthcoming. The company confirmed that what we’ve seen is called the “ION Total Control,” and it will be revealed at E3 next week. In size and feel, ION says it’s very similar to the Xbox 360 controller, with the triggers replaced by a “patent pending mouse-like button design....

E3 11: What is your dream game announcement at E3?

At this year’s E3, I would love to see a brand newStarTropicsgame. The first two games on the NES are two of myfavorite games of all time, and it would be so amazing to see a new sequel set in that same pleasant, colorful, uniqueuniverse. 3DS or Project Cafe is just fine, Nintendo. I am not picky. Thanks in advance! Will this announcement happen? Not likely. But that shouldn’t stop the fun speculation!...

E3 2007: Mass Effect trailer proves that mass can be converted to orgasms

The above, just-droppedMass Effecttrailer is the first thing I’ve seen from the game that actually gets me excited about it. Up until now I’ve been referring to it asKoToRwith 20% more click-click-bang-bang, but now that I’ve seen just how sexy all that clickin’ and bangin’ looks, I can’t wait til the thing actually hits home consoles.Speaking of bangin’, am I the only one who can’t get the image of duo-sapphic-faux-phallo heroin-fuelled sexin’ out of my head whenever I hear Keith David’s voice?...

E3: Microsoft talks increased first-party Kinect support

Microsoft seemed intent onall things Kinectthis week, much to many gamers’ dismay. In an interview with GameSpot, Microsoft Game Studios boss Phil Spencer said what we all know to be true. “It’s not a mandate that everything we do in first-party has to support Kinect right now,” he begins. “But I will say, specifically with voice, that there are some things that just seem to make navigating and playing games so much easier, that I would guess the answer will be yes in the end, that you’ll see all first-party games using some form of Kinect functionality....
