The current financial climate is being unkind to all except the people who are paid to come up with ridiculous buzz terms like “credit crunch” or “financial tsunami.” Sony is feeling the burn, as the company’s profit hasfallen by over 70 percentyear-on-year. Ouch. Sony’s net income has plummeted from JPY 73.7 billion (USD 760 million) to JPY 20.8 billion (USD 200 million). Blame is being put upon the strength of the Yen, which is hurting the company’s export business, and decline in stock value following thanks to the great depression....

Sony’s Rob Dyer has been saying a lot of things lately. The publisher relations VP has been sharing some controversial opinions in a recent interview, and one of those opinions regards the very touchy subject of third party success on the Wii. According to the Sony man, publishers are realizing that their games aren’t selling on Nintendo’s waggle box, and have started to return to the Sony flock. “What publishers have said is they’re not going to spend the resources on Wii,” gloats Dyer....

While you may be less than enthused about the name of Square’s upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive RPGInfinite Undiscovery, you may find a few new screens will do more to whet your appetite for a trip away from the Final Fantasy RPG universe. These screens were debuted at the recent Japan-only Xbox 360 RPG Premiere event, which also yielded new info onTales of VesperiaandStar Ocean: The Last Hope. Not too shabby news when it comes to RPG fans who have been waiting for news of more of their favorite genre on the 360!...

This just in: PC requirements are bananas. Capcom recently released the minimum and maximum specs that you need to have in order to fully enjoyStreet Fighter IV. Seriously, it’s out of control. And, technically, it’s not even a controller per se — more of an add-on for your existing controller. The Avenger, as it has been dubbed, is specifically designed for people who aren’t happy with their competitive online game performances, and want to obliterate the equal playing field. This contraption has been the talk of the morning between Nick and I, mostly because of how absurd it looked initially....

Aside from the standard version ofCommand & Conquer 3, EA plans to make a little extra cash on the side by releasing a special edition of the game, titledCommand & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars: Kane Edition. This version of the game will come with a bunch of extra (read: recycled) content, including five extra multiplayer maps, three unique unit skins, blooper videos, strategy videos, deleted scenes, a documentary, a behind-the-scenes DVD, and other stuff that no RTS fan would probably care about....

“Oh great, another snowboarding game. Whoa, wait a second. This snowboarding game actually looks good!” That’s pretty much what went through my head when Ubisoft showed offShaun White Snowboardingduring Ubidays in San Francisco a few weeks ago. Ubisoft is trying to do something completely knew with this genre and thanks to the help of Shaun White, it looks like they have a solid title here. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game will be offering up a completely different experience over what the Wii will offer....

Ugly Americans: Apocalypsegeddon— yeah that’s not fun to type — is set to land at the end of this month for both PSN August 30 and XBLA August 31. Priced at $9.99 for PSN or 800 Microsoft Points for XBLA, the team at Backbone Entertainment is taking Comedy Central’s animated comedy-horror series into the third dimension with a four-player top-down co-op twin stick shooter. Set in New York City on the verge of Apocalypsegeddon, players will take on the likes of raving demons, delinquent man birds and the undead by “lactating fire” and hurling odd items such as demon skulls and wrenches....
