Psyched forValkyria Chronicles II? Is Sega’s “Community BLiTZ” working? Like pre-ordering things at GameStop? If you answered “yes” to the first and third questions, then this is the announcement for you, because GameStop is offering two bonus missions with pre-orders of the PlayStation Portable-bound strategy extravaganza. The missions themselves will be made available as a PlayStation Network download upon release. Going by the descriptions (which you can read below), they sound like “challenge” missions, with one pitting your troops in a straight-up brawl with a rival unit, and another tasking you with overcoming a group that specializes in “stonewalling defense”....

Bad news first — thePlayStation Network will be (partially) taken offlinestarting on April 14, beginning at 8am PST. It will return at 11pm PST, and the only thing that will be affected will be access to the PlayStation Store. Deja vu? Here’s how slow of a news day this is (part two): I finished up a bit more work and then bought a new mattress. Then I went out withmy friendfor lunch. You read the headline right. Along with two playable Queen tracks — “We Will Rock You” and “We Are The Champions” — the band will also be making an appearance inLEGO Rock Band. As LEGO minifigures, of course.Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon, and Roger Taylor have all been given the brick treatment for the upcoming title, scheduled to hit stores sometime in early November. Next week, the Rock Band Store will be updated with its fourth country pack, shockingly titled “Going Country Pack 04.” The nine song track pack will feature music from country’s biggest artists including Reb McEntire, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, and more. If you want the whole shebang, it’ll cost you $05-07-2025 MS Points for all nine ditties....

There’s only one system hanging on now. One system that refuses to drop its price like everyone else is doing. It’s that darn Wii, and so far Nintendo has been denying it will be giving a price drop any time soon. However,Kotakuis reporting that they’ve uncovered a Walmart ad that has information on it that says a “rollback” for the Wii will be coming the first week of October. No price was mentioned....

Saints Row3DS was only briefly mentioned by Nintendo during its E3 press conference, and THQ has today decided to reveal a little more. It’s calledSaints Row: Drive By, and it’ll also be available for Xbox Live Arcade. The XBLA version will apparently have connectivity withSaints Row 3, unlocking content for the next main entry in the series. “Nintendo particularly wanted an ‘M’ rated game for 3DS’s launch. We had it in production – we were doing a 3D version on XBL ofSaint’s Row: Drive By,” confirmed Core games VP Danny Bilson....

I get a lot of phone calls, many from phone numbers I don’t recognize. I’m a man of technology, preferring to do my business over email and text messages, so I let many go straight to voice mail. When a Texas-based call came in today, I hit “ignore” on my cell, instead deciding to fight with the slightly-brokenKillzone 2beta servers. When I checked the voice mail later, I was greeted by a high-pitched shriek in my ear....

Who would have guessed it, but you can takeSkate 2online. Yup! It supports the Internet! In this latest video feature, the folks behindSkate 2talk a bit about the game’s online component, which looks to be greatly improved over the original. As is all the rage these days, hopping online is going to be a seamless experience, and can be done anywhere in the game’s open world. Sound familiar? Yup, it’s like every open-world game release after Criterion’sBurnout Paradise....

Anytime you use something for anything other than its intended use, I dig it. Make toast with a blowtorch? Cool. Fry an egg on a car engine? Awesome. Use a Nintendo DSi as a wrecking ball? Fantastic. French gaming magazine Amusement (creepy webpage) really wanted to put a DSi through a wall, I guess. They did, and the photographic result is everything you’d hope it would be. The DSi spits in half, of course, but it makes it through a wall successfully, taking wall pieces with it....
