Joystiq reports that Sony has been floating one around asking about potential additions to Zipper Interactive’s hugongous FPS,MAG. What additions might those be? Game Debate to the Death! Luigi’s Mansion VS Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker

Last weekwe finished our PS2 odd debate brackets with a monstrous battle betweenMetal Gear Solid 2andShadow of the Colossus. Despite a few recent landslide wins, I have to say that I’ve never seen so many Dtoiders say “This was a really hard choice” in the comments as I have in the last month. Last week in particular I heard a lot of different people saying the same thing, and I just want to let everyone know your words aren’t going unnoticed....

Gamer’s screaming triggers SWAT team response

When I firstsaw this story, I thought it was old news from Copenhagen, where a SWAT teamhilariously respondedto the sounds of gunfire coming from a loud PS3. However, it’shappened again. A woman was out walking and heard screams coming from a New Jersey house. She did the natural thing and phoned for the professionals, but when they got there, it all went a bit daft. Upon police arrival, the resident of the house refused to let them in, explaining that the screams were caused by a videogame session....

Games that time forgot: Way of the Samurai

This week’s “forgotten” game (I use quotations because, once again, it’s reasonably well known) is Bam! Entertainment’sWay of the Samurai. It’s an entertaining, highly original, nonlinear samurai adventure, and it’s a kind of game we need to see more often.StoryYou create your own Samurai from a choice of about a half a dozen character model and clothing combinations. The game takes place between the fall of the Tokugawa Shogunate and the rise of the Meiji—this is a familiar time to buffs of either Samurai flicks or Japanese history in general, because during this period, the remaining Samurai of the Tokugawa period were forced to become wanderingronin, trading their lives at the top of the Japanese social ladder for one of wandering, begging, and often times, crime....

Early on in my blogging career at Destructoid, I told you about an online golf game calledGimme Golf. At the time, its developers, Skill Technology, were taking sign-ups for a closed beta. According to a press release (after the jump), over 1,000 players tried out the closed session. Gimme Golfis free to play, but here’s an enticing note: there are weekly drawings for a $100 cash prize, and all you have to do to enter is take part in a multiplayer game!...

Gridrunner Revolution is out now, go play the demo

Put down that acid, Jimmy! You don’t need drugs when you’ve got Llamasoft’sGridrunner Revolution. The demo for the game isnow available, as is the full $20 product. Similar to the studio’s previous gameSpace Giraffe, summing up my experience withGridrunner Revolutionis tricky. At first, I thought I understood what I was doing; what a fool I was. Weird shapes started flying at me, the sun’s gravity decided to f*ck with my bullets, the number of sheep references and brightly-colored explosions tripled every passing second … yes, thisisa game I’m still talking about....

Hot Shots Shorties is something that Sony trademarked

You could go just about anywhere with that name. To me it sounds like just one of a collection of urban-made upskirt videos. But it’s probably a videogame, and it’s probably something from Clap Hanz, the folks that make one of my favorite games ever,Hot Shots Golf. The sharp minds atSiliconeranote that minigame collectionMinna no Sukkiricame out in Japan last year for the PSP, so this could be the name for the western port....

How Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is kind of like Pokemon

On top of the main game presented inPeace Walker, there’s a whole other engrossing aspect called Mother Base. In trade for the help of Snake and the Soldiers without Borders group, Ramón Gálvez Mena gives an abandoned oil platform that becomes Snake’s central base. At Mother Base, players will develop new weapons, trade or send gifts to other players, access the versus mode, send soldiers on missions and more. Before anything fun can happen with Mother Base though, you first need to put on your Ash Ketchum hat and capture soldiers,Pokemonstyle....

Indie Nation #8/9: Games of the creative process

I missed last Friday’s Indie Nation. Apologies. I still wanna do one forthisFriday, though, so just consider this a really, really late installment of the series. This time around, I’m gonna slightly break from the formula: rather than highlighting just one game and why you should play it, I’m going to highlight two and talk about their artistic importance. Jason Rohrer’sGravitationand Rod Humble’sStars Over Half Moon Baymay look, sound, and feel very different, but they tackle a very similar theme: the creative process....
