Windows 8 is coming. Are you ready? Microsoft debuted its next-generation PC operating system, currently codenamed “Windows 8,” at All Things Digital’s D9 conference yesterday. The company calls the OS a “reimagining of Windows, from the chip to the interface”; the latter was the focus at D9. Above is a screenshot of the brand-new interface at the center of the OS, a touch-based setup composed of “live tiles” — as opposed to mere icons — that takes afterWindows Phone 7....

Rockstar San Diego has announced that their upcoming racer for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360,Midnight Club: Los Angeles, needs a bit more maintenance under the hood before it’s ready to peel out onto store shelves. Accordingly, the previous September 9 release date has now been moved back to October 7. The delay should hopefully mean further improvements, as Rockstar promises a complete lack of load times as you drive around their virtual representation of LA at speeds that will likely far exceed the posted speed limits....

Such will be the case when Hudson’sBomberman Blast, the upcoming digital download multiplayer blast-a-thon, comes to WiiWare. Eight-player online play, Mii support, leaderboards … what more can you ask for? Waggle, of course! AndBomberman Blastdelivers, with there new “shake-it-up” items that are activated by — get this — shaking the Wii remote. No word on whenBomberman Blastwill hit WiiWare, but here are two hints: whenever the hell Nintendo feels like putting it up on the service, and it’s going to be on a Monday....

OK, I finally want this game. It’s been a long time coming, but thanks to this new trailer, I’m finally sure thatDead Risingon the Wii will be fun. I can still see why some die-hardDead Risingfans will consider this port to be useless, but for people like me that preferResident Evil 4to just about any other 3D shooter ever made,Dead Rising: Chop Till You Dropis starting to look mighty fine....

Perhaps it’s a case of the pictures being tiny and the game looking superior in motion, but I’m not feeling the sprawling city shown in these freshPokemon Black/Whitescreenshots. I never thought I’d be one to fear change; here I am, fearing the hell out of our new wonky-looking starter overlords. It’s almost certainly way too early to judge these games, so I’ll try to contain myself here. The main positive I can see coming out of this drastic shift in style and tone is the slight chance the menus will get a reboot....

My game for this week isHenry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure. It’s an absolutely fun game and a must get for the Nintendo DS. Thelast time we talkedSpain and Germany sales charts, we found thatSuper Smash BrothersBrawlhad toppledMetal Gear Solid 4for the top spot. The week ending on July 13 shows Nintendo’s conquering of Europe has reached a nearly impossible level. The charts, according togamesindustry.biz, reveal that not only has Snake disappeared from the German list, but so has every other game that doesn’t run on a Wii or Nintendo DS. The Spanish are trying to diversify their portfolio still, but we’re witnessing a shift down from the only two titles on their top ten that isn’t a Nintendo software....
