Legend of the Galactic Heroes game to be browser-based

You might not care much for anime in general, butLegend of the Galactic Heroesis one of the most epic anime of them all. It’s a grand space opera that has been running for nearly twenty-eight years (since 1982), and a powerful sci-fi property in its own right, standing easily among western-produced peers. It featured some of the most gratuitous of gratuitous space battles, with fleet actions involvingtens of thousands of starships....

Mario AI Championship delves into procedural generation

While I’m of the opinion that there’s nothing quite like a painstakingly handcrafted videogame level with well-thought-out hidden goodies, procedural generation can be pretty neat too. That’s one of the themes for this year’sMario AI Championship. I think we covered the competition previously, but I can’t find the post. Drat! In its place, here’s a ridiculouslycool YouTube videothat sums everything up quite nicely. The 2010 competition — which is, again, part of the IEEE conference — now has three tracks: gameplay, learning, and level generation....

Midway has announced that they’ve signed on comedians Frank Caliendo and Jay Mohr to provide voices for the upcoming over-the-top football release,Blitz: The League II. Caliendo, best known for his celebrity impressions — including a pretty hilarious and spot-onJohn Madden— will voice three roles: the prison warden, the offensive line coordinator, and the color commentator.
