Microsoft extends Xbox 360 warranty to 1 year, clumsy children rejoice!

In a move designed to stave off comparison to a certain Ebenezer this holiday season,Microsoft has extended the out of the box warrantyon it’s Xbox 360 systems from 90 days to one whole year to coincide with what the current warranty on it is in other regions. We applaud Microsoft for this action, and it proves once again that their gaming division is the most scrupulous part of the company. While the rest of the behemoth is focused on smashing Steve Jobs into incorporeal atoms and burning Linus Torvalds’ eyes out like some kind of otherworldly eye-burningthing, the gaming division seems dead set on playing kissy face with Nintendo and providing children all over the world (or, at least those whose parentsreallylove them) with the joys of electronic gaming....

Monkey Island statue is made of greatness

This weekend I come to you on my knees begging for forgiveness. Why do I do this? Because I have never played aMonkey Islandgame. Not even part of one. Not even one mouse click to make a character walk across the screen. I’m sorry. Strike me down now, wallowing in my own self pity. My only defense is that I have played every other LucasArts point-and-click masterpiece, but that is no defense at all....

Theinflatable kart with Wii Remote steering wheelis being used to promoteKids are Heroes, an organization that encourages community involvement among kids. That’s totally a good cause and CTA should be proud of themselves for cross promoting like this....

Mythical Atari landfill discovered! ET still sucks.

1983 was a magical year. The firstSwatchwas introduced, I was created in a vat of chemicals and the home video game market had reached critical mass and was imploding in on itself. It really was the apocalypse for a company like Atari, who up until this point, had been the kings of crappy 4 pixel games that people spent billions of dollars a year on. It’s long beena legendamongst video game collectors and pop culture nerds that when the market tanked Atari had nowhere to put a ton of it’s unsold video games and VCS consoles, including the execrableET: The Extra-Terrestrial....

New screens: Wii version of Rygar is so totally not the PS2 version, we swear

In 2002, Tecmo releasedRygar: The Legendary Adventure. The re-telling of their 8-bit classic was indeed Legendary, an excellent game that many overlooked at the time. Well, now it’s coming to the Wii asRygar: The Battle of Argus. Tecmo are officially saying it’s “not the same Rygar,” trying to make us feel better about a port of a six-year-old game. What’s going to be fresh? New enemies, techniques and — of course — waggle....
