Sony admits ‘jury’s still out’ on PSP Minis

What do you think of the PSP Minis. I think they were wannabe DSiWare or App Store apps. Smaller, cheaper bits of software that you were supposed to go nuts over. I have a few, and they’re…okay. I didn’t need or strongly desire any of them, but they’re nice to have, I suppose. How does Sony think the PSP Minis program is doing? SCEA’s SVP of publisher relations, Rob Dyer, told Gamasutra that “it’s gone okay....

Sony moving away from Cell processing with PS4?

The technical side of gaming is something I leave to other people. All I know is that I plug the wires into my television and the pretty pictures come out, and that is as far as I really want to go. However, if Sony’s crappy ad campaigns taught me one thing (and even that might be a stretch) it’s that the PS3 has a Cell processor in it and Cell processors are akin to Gods....

Spore rated PG by BBFC for ‘little buggers’ reference

The British Board of Film Classification have thoroughly laid down the law on Will Wright’s upcoming game of creature modification and evolution,Spore. The BBFC, which also rates some videogames, have decided that the ostensibly mild violence and the reference of a small alien species as “little buggers” is enough to warrant a PG rating. The rating means that there is a possibility that the game could “disturb” any child under eight-years-old....

Tak Fujii took Frogger 3D and made it awesome

I loveFrogger, at least in theory. The original game offered a great mix of maze-game maneuvering and environmental hazards that managed to capture many hours of my life as a kid. Lately though, the series has come off as a tad uninspired. Thankfully, Tak Fujii is helming the upcoming titleFrogger 3D, and if there is one thing this guy doesn’t lack, it’s inspiration. LikePac-Man Championship Edition DXdid for that series,Frogger 3Dtakes the base elements of its source material and extrapolates on them to the greatest degree possible....

The Akihabara Difference: Fire Red Destructoid Edition

For spring break, while everyone was enjoying themselves south of the border, I went north, to Tokyo. My whole thought process was that while I was there, I’d be able to go ahead and compare what it’s like in Tokyo’s Akihabara District versus Osaka’s Den Den Town. In other words, the Akihabara Difference. What did I expect to find? Scores and scores of videogames, discovering treasures that I hadn’t even been able to find when I was in Den Den Town....
