Deadly Premonition’s Raincoat Killer could get own game

The Raincoat Killer could get his own spin-off game, according to barmy developer Swery65. Deadly Premonition’s hooded, axe-wielding antagonist was (spoiler) briefly playable during Deadly Premonition, and Swery thinks a full game starring the homicidal maniac could be worth making. “A prequel is definitely one of the paths I still have in mind,” said Swery, reiteratingprevious game plans. “Another approach is like a spin-off fromDeadly Premonitionwhere the main character would be the Raincoat Killer....

E3 10: Your eyes might enjoy these Patapon 3 screens

During my first few days withPatapon 2, I dug the progression system. Little did I know, these mechanics would go on to become my most hated part of the game. Everything else — and I meaneverything— about the quirky rhythm game rocked, in my eyes. What I’m trying to get at is this: Sony, if you tweak just a few of these less-than-desirable aspects for the newly announcedPatapon 3, I will send you love mail....

E3: Hands-on with Backbreaker: Vengeance

Nick Chester has alreadyprovided youwith a pretty good idea of what 505 Games’Backbreaker: Vengeancehas to offer. But I got to sit down with a bigger build of the game at E3 and thought I would share my thoughts. SPORTS! Backbreaker: Vengeanceis a football game that really isn’t about football. EEDAR: Wii games are getting better

The Wii has earned a reputation as a beacon for some of the laziest shovelware ever to be thrown at a game system. It’s not really Nintendo’s fault, but the fault of third party hacks who are using the Wii’s popularity and the general intelligence of the mainstream public to mass produce crap for everyone’s favorite white box o’ waggle. However, according to analyst firm EEDAR, thingsaregetting better. EEDAR used the most trustworthy and incontrovertible proof there is — review scores — to show that quality on the Wii is improving....

Entering Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot, Borderlands’ DLC #2

Earlier this week, Gearbox was nice enough to send over a build ofBorderland‘s second piece of downloadable content, “Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot.” That’s the good news. The bad news is that I’d have to play the game on one our Xbox 360 debug test units, reserved for playing early preview and review code. What that meant is that I’d have to start a new character from scratch, as I had no saved games or characters on my test kit....

Even Link has an iPhone 3G: Silly product placement added to videogames

For its weekly Photoshop contest, tech blogGizmododecided to have people cram random gadgets into their favorite videogames. The result wasMario driving a HummerandSegway riding Spartans. Take a look at theresults pageto see all the entries. Although this contest was all in good fun, it got me wondering if such blatant product placement might become more problematic as time goes on. Heck,Metal Gear Solid 4was chock full of it — with an iPod for Snake to listen to and several real-world food brands for him to eat....

Final Fantasy III comes to iOS, is quite expensive

Square Enix has releasedFinal Fantasy IIIfor your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. The publisher is known for charging silly amounts of money for its mobile games, but this may have broken the record —Final Fantasy IIIiOS will set you back $15.99. If there’s a more expensive iOS game, I don’t currently know about it. The last game that I remember boasting such a price was the iPad version ofChaos Rings— published, unsurprisingly, by Square Enix....
