Sony has officially announced that Insomniac’s PlayStation 3 exclusive Resistance 2 will be dropping on shelves November 4 (two days before my birthday … hint, hint!). In addition to the standard flavor, the pre-requisite collector’s edition will also be available for $79.99 and will include: Sony has also (once again) revealed the ways you can gain “premiere access” to the public beta: pre-order the game from GameStop (retail or online) or purchase an annual subscription to the PS3 digital magazine,Qore....

Transformers: War for Cybertronhas easily become my most played game of the year, and I never thought I’d get to say that about aTransformersgame. It seems that more playtime is on the cards, too, as details about the first batch of DLC have allegedly surfaced. According to a leaked bit of marketing spiel, the downloadable content will include two new multiplayer maps, Havoc and Fortress, and two new Escalation mode maps, District and Forsaken....

After lackluster sales in both Europe and Japan, and a tongue-lashing from theRegginator himself, itlooked likeDisaster: Day of Crisiswould never have the chance to bring its terrorist-blasting, CPR-pumping ways to the USA.Disasteris of the few games published by Nintendo to feature absolutely no Sci-Fi/Fantasy elements or cartoony characters, and instead bases it’s world around the pseudo-reality found in most big budget Hollywood blockbusters. To deny a game like that US localization would be a huge slap in the face to theBad Boys 2loving American public, and a surefire way to lose money....

Unfortunately, the promise of good console sales weren’t enough to keep Ascaron Entertainment’s financial head above water. The studio responsible for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions ofSacred 2has entered administration in Germany. It sounds bad — bankruptcy always does — but it’s not all black roses and tombstones. In a statement released toGameSpot, Ascaron said “several well-known interested parties” are discussing a “positive takeover” of the studio. Ascaron mentioned that theirconsole titles(hitting this May) would not be affected by their financial woes....

Saints Row 2producer Greg Donavanhas expressed confidencein his game going up against Rockstar’s flagship title, the anticipated and sure-to-be controversialGrand Theft Auto IV. The two games are very similar, both being sandbox crime spree titles, with the originalSaints Rowsometimes coming off as a cack-handed and even desperate attempt at capturingGTA’s feel, though admittedly adding a few refinements along the way and improving the combat. Similarity and theGTAseries’ headstart do not worry Donavan, however....

Well, E3’s over and done with. I don’t think anyone’s dead, unless Dale has turned into a zombie, and can still blog while decomposing. I’d be a little afraid for anyone who’s staying in the same hotel room as him, or sitting next to him on the plane. So, let’s take a moment and wrap up some of the scraps that have been floating about the ‘net. Sure, it’s not quite as interesting as all the hands-on impressions we’ve done, but it still makes the industry tick, beat by beat....

There’s no price for all this yet, nor is there a line-up of channels coming, but judging by the UK and Ireland’s general love of all things soccer (known oddly as “football” over there) we’re going to guess that there will be plenty of Premiere League Football to watch on Microsoft’s console. On top of this will most likely be movies and a plethora of television programming that Sky already airs....

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrimdirector Todd Howard believes that videogames have become too expensive, and that they ought to cost around nineteen dollars.Skyrim, of course, has an MSRP of $59.99, so it seems that Howard’s own game is reluctant to lead the charge. “I’ve thought for a long time that games are too expensive,” he said in the latest issue ofPSM3. “I don’t put us in that category of course — for what we give you, for sixty bucks or however many ‘quid’ it is....

Wow. I thought news of the Xbox 360actually outsellinga Japanese console in Japan was crazy enough, butnow there’s wordfrom Microsoft Japan (viewable in full after the jump) that the sudden upsurge in sales caused byTales of Vesperiahas actually drained the region of all its dust-covered Xbawkes. Currently, the Xbox 360 is sold out, and retailers are unable to restock their supply. This is a result of our own sales targets being exceeded by the actual customer sales....

Two burglars in Wiltshire had a golden opportunity recently, when they found themselves in a room with an Xbox 360 and a wad of games just lying on the floor. Those two burglars didn’t touch the console or a single piece of software, however, and instead made offwith a tarantulacalled Fangs. The victims of the crime seem quite perplexed, unsure why the 360 was just left there while the tarantula was taken....

The last time I saw a huge naked guy laughing, I called the cops before kicking him in the balls and screaming, but I don’t think that will quite work withStreet Fighter IV‘s Seth. This new video shows off the world’s most violent naturist and it doesn’t skimp on the “scary bald bastard” stuff. Of course, as I type this, some mentalist in Japan will have already beaten him within three seconds ten million times over....

Before we get started, I would like to note that naively searching “back trouble” on Google Images yields some unexpected results after a few pages. Anyway, astudyconducted by a Queensland, Australia chiropractor has shown a dramatic increase in the number of children showing signs of spinal curvature. She’s calling for Scoliosis screening to be reinstated in schools, and blames the problem on videogames; primarily handheld systems. Unfortunately, the study does little to show what caused innumerable cases of the same condition for thethousands of yearsprior to the invention of the Game Boy....

Oh please please please please. The mad genius behindKiller 7andNo More Heroes, Suda51, wants to create something for Nintendo’s new 3D handheld. In an interview with Official Nintendo Magazine, Suda stated that he has “many ideas,” which is no doubt an understatement. What kind of ideas? “I hope for the realisation of a training remote like Luke Skywalker used for force training inStar Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.” Well, that’s Suda for you....
