Sony’s insane marketing department strikes again: Absurd PS3 ad targets women

We ought to run a feature on Destructoid called “guess what the Sony advert is trying to f*cking say.” We could also take bets on which class-A drug was being ingested while said advert was conceived. Anyway, this latest in a long line of twisted brainwrongs seems to be aimed at women, although what it’s trying totellthem is anybody’s guess. Sony may be attempting to suggest that inside every fat man is a thin woman....

Now the game may officially have a name: Square Enix Europe has recently trademarked Hitman: Absolution. For reference, the words “Deus Ex: Human Revolution”were trademarkedby Square a few months before that game’s name was officially unveiled....

TGS 09: Tsumuji, EA’s Japan-developed DS game

During today’s EA Press Conference held in Tokyo, we were treated to a glimpse of the very first footage ever shown on a brand new title for the DS. CalledTsumuji(which means “Whirlwind”), the game immediately reminded me in style and tone ofThe Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass— and I mean that as a major compliment. The game places you in the role of a ninja of indeterminable gender (it looks pretty, but could be male — this is Japan-developed, after all) who appears to be on an adventure that will involve puzzle-solving, a bit of platforming and lots of other good fun....

The Memory Card .08: A twist on a classic

Metroid: Zero Mission Remaking a game (especially a classic one) is a very risky endeavor. On the one hand, designers don’t want to ruin what made the game a classic to begin with, usually just releasing an almost perfectly designed clone of the original and adding new and improved graphical polish here and there to keep things interesting. But is this visually enhanced approach too boring? Why remake a game just to make it a little bit prettier?...

The Memory Card .37: Thinking outside the DS

Hotel Dusk When the Nintendo DS came out it was full of new and exciting features never before seen in a videogame system. Sadly, most of these features — in particular the touch screen and microphone — were not perfected until almost a year after the popular handheld’s release. But once the featureswereperfected, designers found ways to implement some pretty amazing things into their games. While most of these were impressive, some innovations took things to the next level — a level most didn’t even know existed — and completely changed the way people experienced a videogame....
