Today, the YouTube for Television beta launched. The name is quite apt. The service literally allows you to watch those “Dude gets punched in the testicles while bathing his cat” videos on your television with the aid of a browser, like the one in your PlayStation 3. YouTube for Television offers a full-screen mode, crappy visuals and bulbous buttons for your enjoyment.

It’s easy to get to as well. Just open up the PS3’s browser, type inyoutube.com/tvand go to town. It doesn’t appear to support high-definition at this time. However, it has a variety of sorting options and a fairly intuitive interface.

According to the official PlayStation blogposting, Sony is currently working with YouTube to create a more streamlined version. When this is coming is anyone’s guess, but it’s obnoxious to think that the future version wouldn’t support HD or widescreen.
