Joy Rideis one of those games we’ve seen a few glimpses of here and there, but none of its appearances have ever been substantial. Even so, the concept of a free-to-play arcade-style racer that is supported through microtransactions and allows you to use your Xbox Avatar always seemed like a good one.

This Xbox LIVE Arcade game was originally set for a 2009 release until it was decided a delay would be worth pursuing. Here we are in 2010, andJoy Rideis nowhere in sight. Hell, you’re able to’t even find anything about it on Xbox.com now.

Joystiq asked a Microsoft representative what the deal was, and this was the response: “We’re excited to bring BigPark’s vision to life in 2010. However, we have nothing further to announce at this time.”

Huh. So, I have to imagine this meansJoy Ride— since we last saw it, anyway — has radically changed. Why else would they go through so much trouble to delete its presence on Xbox.com? Maybe if we are lucky, we’ll find out more at E3.
