Citing resources and the fact that they’re “not PS3 developers,” Valve’s Doug Lombardi confirmed that there are currently no plans to bring the first-person zombie shooter,Left 4 Dead, to the PlayStation 3.

According to Lombardi, whorecently spoke with CVG,Left 4 Dead‘s new IP status means the game “doesn’t have that guaranteed appeal yet.” Provided the game does well (and by all accounts there’s no reason it shouldn’t), it’s possible we may see a PS3 version somewhere down the line.

“We’re only 150 people,” Lombardi told CVG, “so there’s only so many things we can do. But it’s one of those things with partners, wanting to take on that investment and risk. I think untilLeft 4 Deadis proven, you’ll probably just see what we make in that franchise.”

Rumors of a PS3 versionofLeft 4 Deadrose from the grave when now formerElectronic Gaming Monthlyeditor Bryan Intihar was confident the game would be released on Sony’s console. We followed up with Lombardi at the time who told us: “There is no PS3 version ofLeft 4 Deadannounced, nor in development. Not sure how that got started.” Not that we didn’t believe him or anything …
