Can you guess what Joe Gamer rented the most last year? Renowned research firm Rentrak (viaEdge) released their hotly anticipated top 10 videogame rental list of 2008. The heavy hitters are basically what I expected, but it’s an interesting hierarchy nonetheless. Check it out:
I use to work at a rental store that dealt with both porn and videogames. Our common crowd was the demographic — male in his 20s — which Microsoft has been most successful with. Titles likeHalo 3practically flew off the shelf. But so didNaughty Nurses 7, a very sub par flick.
The one notable exception from this list is a PlayStation 3 game. Does Sony need to work harder to get a game that people are eager enough to rent? Or does the common renter even matter? If he does matter, what the hell does that say aboutArmy of Two?
