This is basically aMetal Gear Solidfan’s wet dream. More so if you’re gettingMetal Gear Solid: HD Editionon the PlayStation 3. Both versions of the game will include the MSX2 versions ofMetal GearandMetal Gear 2: Solid Snake, plusMetal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty,Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake EaterandMetal Gear Solid: Peace Walker(more on this game in a later post.) The PS3 version is the only one that will also include a PlayStation Network voucher code that will get you the firstMetal Gear Solid.
I only got to playMetal Gear Solid 2and quickly look over someone’s shoulder atMetal Gear Solid 3. Really the only thing that’s been changed with these two games is obviously the HD visual overhaul. The sounds, fonts and graphics have all been upgraded and it’s all coming through at 60 frames-per-second. You also have the PS3 Trophy and Xbox 360 Achievements system thrown in for good measure.
Now just because the games are in 1080p HD doesn’t mean everything looks amazing. Remember, these two games are PlayStation 2 era titles so a lot of stuff comes across blocky. The blocky-ness is just coming through in smooth and crisp now is all. Plus you’re seeing the game in widescreen view too.
So yeah, it’s the sameMetal Gear Solidsyou know and love all but now in sexy HD packaging. What more could you want?
