ThreeCSItitles didn’t satisfy whatever hunger Telltale Games has for drama. In a recent interview withVG247, CEO Dan Connors announced that the studio will be announcing new franchises in the “next few months,” and while some of the franchises might be familiar to fans, Connors teased a new direction — less funny, more drama — with some of them.
“I think there’ll be some combination of things,” Connors said after revealing that the studio would announce new stuff in the coming months. “I think we’ll be sticking with some of the franchises we’ve worked with, and we’ll be announcing some new franchises, probably in some new genres as well, not just comedy.”
Connors then name-droppedThe SopranosandLostas TV shows people identify with because of the “drama” and “psychological connection.” He went on, sayingHeavy Rainappears to be capitalizing on the desire for more crap like that.
“… but we believe there’s a lot of head-room to make more dramatic advances in storytelling and drama inside of this genre,” said Connors.
As long as we’re not playingCSI: Monkey Island— you know, the show where Guybrush Threepwood is a hardened investigator with a mild drug problem and OCD — then we’re good to go. Bring on the drama, Telltale.
