Tecmo is working on a game calledQuantumthat I got to peek at during E3. The game is looking like it could potentially be quite good, but there’s no denying the fact that it looks almostexactlylikeGears of War, from the gameplay to the character designs. Tecmo is at least self-aware enough to realize thatQuantumwill be comparedto the game it shamelessly pilfers from.
“We are aware that people will draw comparisons [withGears of War],” says Ben Laurence, PR manager of Tecmo Koei Europe, “butQuantumwill be a fantastic game in its own right.”
I’m not one who really cares that a game is totally original and unique, so long as it’s good, and ifQuantumis a fun shooter, than it’s not going to matter much. That said,Quantumreally has beenremorselessin itsGearspillaging. Saying it will draw comparisons is like saying the nextDead or Alivewill have a few breasts in it.
