After almost nine months Europe’s PSN is finally going to see the release ofSpelunker HDtomorrow as part of the weekly store update.Spelunker HDis a remake of the NES platformer which updates the 8-bit graphics and adds incredibly complex new challenges whilst retaining all the classic mechanics and the utterly brutal difficulty level. It also boasts a generous six player co-op mode for online play, as well as four player local co-op.
You would do well to read Dale North’simpressionsfrom the game’s US release, which does a great job of explaining its quirky appeal. Essentially the goal is to jump and climb through a labyrinthine cave collecting as much treasure as you can along the way without dying. On the default settings pressing left/right on a rope without jumping at the same time will kill you instantly, which hopefully explains just how hard staying alive is going to be.
