When you have a name likeShingo ‘Seabass’ Takatsuka, that alone might be enough to turn a few heads. However, when you are associated with a name as respected asKonamiand make ballsy admissions that you just aren’t prepared for the modern multi-platform setting — you just might flat out  floor some folks.

During an interview with PSM3 magazine,Takatsuka decided it was best to “come clean” aboutPro Evolution Soccer 2008on the PlayStation 3, and what it means for future development of the series.

“It’s so far from what we wanted. In fact, we thought about delaying it but different factors meant we had to release it. As a developer, we’ve worked the same way since the days of the SNES. We’re simply not set up for multi-platform development.PES 2009 is in development, but after hearing the criticism, we’ll be taking it back to the drawing board. It might not be next year, but it will be soon”.

This admission comes followingcriticismsthat the game suffers from serious framerate issues, as well as a less than desirable online multiplayer experience. If there’s any silver lining to this, it’s that Takatsuka is brutally honest with himself concerning the game’s shortcomings. Unfortunately, no matter who you decide to blame for developers having such a hard time making multi-platform games shine on Sony’s beast, the end result remains the same — this is but another setback (in a sea of many) for Sony’s plan to dominate the market once again.
