I was invited to check out some secretTrongame/movie event here at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con. It was held at Flynn’s, where I found a very long line of people waiting to get in. Once I got inside, there saw a full arcade, all set to free play, as well as a handful of builds of the upcomingTron: Evolution. I was told that the opening of the upcoming Tron film was shot here. Vending machines that shot out free Coca-Cola Zero bottles were on hand.

Beyond the arcade was a dark corridor. I left to explore and took my camera, working my way down a dim hallway and into another. Finally there was a light at the end of the tunnel. Stepping out, I entered a very cool Tron room, decked out in lights and and running video on a huge dot screen, showing extended trailers ofTron: Legacy. Bars served drinks and some cool Tron-themed products were displayed, all while music thumped in the background, matching perfectly with the neon lighting.

There’s an iPhone app that ties into all of this. By downloading the app, attendees can “Enter the Grid” by checking in at the show via the phone’s GPS system. How it works is that anyone who has checked in at ComiTron (located on aisle #3712) and opens us the app will receive an exclusive “golden ticket” to this event. If you’re here at the event, it’s definitely worth checking out.
