Hell hath no fury like the combined might of PS3 and PC owners. The long-running controversy overCall of Duty: Black Ops‘ alleged poor quality on anything that isn’t an Xbox 360 has reached a head with UK pressure group Gamers’ Voice taking this issue to the government with a formal complaint.
Gamers’ Voice accuses Activision of using PS3/PC players “like game testers” and calls Black Ops an “unfinished” piece of software.
“Gamers’ Voice accepts that bugs do slip through the net as it’s impossible for developers to find every single bug,” states the group. “We do not accept however allowing entire sections of the PS3 and PC gaming community appearing to be used as game testers for an extended period after a game’s release, yet being asked to pay for the privilege. This is not a tenable way to treat consumers of video games.”
Ireviewed the PC version of the gameand caught heat for doing it, as if the Xbox 360 was theonlyversion of the game. Unfortunately, it’s not the only version, and PC/PS3 users are expected to pay up to $60 for something that, frankly, wasn’t f*cking good enough. So, as little good as I think this formal complaint will do, I personally support it.
If you wantCall of Dutyto be a defacto Xbox 360 exclusive, Activision, then nut up andmakeit an exclusive. Don’t put inferior versions out just to suck up some extra cash. It’s like youwantus to have another videogame market crash.
