Finally, a reason to own the Nintendo DS.
After much hinting and speculation, Microsoft has announced that they will be bringingViva Piñatato the Nintendo DS. Quietly announced yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con 2007, the game will stick with the formula of the original Xbox 360 title, while adding a new top-down perspective.
Along with the children’s show, the Games for Windows port, andViva Piñata Party Animals, it almost seems likeViva Piñatamight be a viable, money-making franchise for Microsoft. Now all they need is, you know … sales. Given the demographic of Nintendo DS players versus Microsoft’s console, it’s likelyViva PiñataDSwill see reasonable success. Hell — even if only a third of Nintendo DS owners worldwide pick up the title, that’ll be more units than they moved on the Xbox 360.
