Videogames: They cripple your kids now

It’s time yet again for another scientific study that may or may not prove videogames are detrimental to your health! The mainstream media is lapping up a brand new report that suggests videogame playing can cause physical pain to children, hurting their hands after just an hour a day. “Around 170 children aged seven to twelve filled out questionnaires about their video game habits. Among the results: The younger the player the more significant the pain,” writesABC....

Wii knockoff Vii’s Chinese television commercial, also disassembly

A few months ago we told you about a ChineseWii one-off called the Vii. This product steals not only Nintendo’s design and control scheme, but also bites from its marketing and advertising model, as it’s aimed at families, children, and elderly people.Seeing the device in action in the Vii’s Chinese television infomercial really hits home. The games look like sad rip-offs ofWii Sportstitles, and the two misshapen-headed mascots are horrendously ugly....

No, your eyes do not deceive you — the legendary and kookyCho Aniki(TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM, 900 Wii Points)is coming to the Virtual Console today. Nintendo says that “this shooter made for quite the conversation piece in its day,” but I’d argue that people are still trying to figure out just what in the hell is going on. The “mild suggestive themes” ofCho Anikiare joined by an orgiinal WiWare titleGroovin’ Blocks(800 Wii Points)....

XCM Dominator Joystick does all the work for you

Well, notall. But it does have some shortcut buttons that you can load up with complex combos and retrigger at a touch. Check out the video above of the XCM Dominator Joystick for PS3, fromTotalConsole. It shows how easy it is to tap in a combo, save it to one of the memory buttons, and then retrigger it. Of course, you’ll get no respect using this in a fighting game tourney, but I could see how it would be fun to have four preloaded hard-to-do moves set up, ready to go....

Yoostar on MTV needs some work

Yoostar 2was an interesting concept. Using the PlayStation Move camera or Kinect, players could insert themselves into, and reenact scenes from their favorite films. Lacking in its execution, the game didn’t live up to the bold concept it was on paper. The plethora of technical issues it carried wasn’t helping its case either. Yoostar Entertainment and Blitz Games are making another pass at it though, drawing from MTV’s expansive library and aiming to capture the series’ promise this go around....

You get five Gamerpoints for having an orgy in Fable 2

When I see information about a game’s Achievements, I generally skip over it. I could probably find something better to do with 30 seconds of my life than read an Achievement list. I could watch some paint dry orgive myself elf ears. Prurient debauchery, however, catches my attention. Fortunately for us, Peter Molyneux’srecently-datedopus, Fable 2,is just depraved enough to keep my attention, if its Achievement list is anything to go by....

Butt-slapping, blinged-out guns, and music can mix. At least, that’s what EA Montreal is thinking.
