E3 10: Jimpressions of Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

I love this game, I want this game! Ninja Theory’s last outing,Heavenly Sword, was conceptually brilliant but practically flawed. Now armed with a real combat system, a great story, and a pair of endearing characters, not to mention the brilliant Andy Serkis, Ninja Theory is back with a game that, from what I’ve played, looks f*cking amazing. Accompanying our official preview, here are some Jimpressions! Simply put,Enslavedstood out as one of my games of the show....

E3: My dog Luna wearing a Sonic the Hedgehog hat

Last night at the 20th anniversary Sonic party (an event that was as amazing as it was completely, wonderfully surreal), the SEGA reps were handing out big, blueSonic the Hedgehoghats. This morning, I decided to put one on my dog Luna. She was so annoyed … butso adorable. This is the most important E3 article I have ever written.

EA graces Europe with Rock Band 2 release date: Coming November 21

Harmonix and Electronic Arts have today finally announced a release date forRock Band 2. You know, it’s that game that America has been playing for weeks. The release gap isn’t quite as brutal as it was with the firstRock Band, at least, with the game slated for November 21 launch. Yet again, this will be a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360, with no word yet on the PlayStation 3 and Wii versions of the game....

EA is ‘interested’ in Left 4 Dead PS3 … no sh*t

I think I see Captain Obvious looming over the horizon, as Valvehas revealedthat Electronic Arts is interested in bringingLeft 4 Deadto the PlayStation 3. Valve itself has already admitted that it won’t personally deliver its eagerly awaited zombie shooter to the black box o’ Blu-ray, but that doesn’t mean EA won’t port it. “ForThe Orange Box, EA did the PS3 version,”statedValve’s Gabe Newell. “They’re interested in getting a PS3 version done....

Edge of Twilight wishes Destructoid a merry Christmas

Awww, isn’t that nice? Destructoid received a holiday postcard fromEdge of Twilightpublisher Fuzzyeyes, and we thought we’d all share. That, and we like to show off when people send us nice things. Edge of Twilightis a game I’ve been hyped for since I first heard about it. A Steampunk adventure with a great sounding story and a surprising amount of violence has me hooked, and I was pretty pleased withwhat I saw at Tokyo....

Enjoy this new Dawn of War II: Retribution trailer

As someone who has only just gotten intoDawn of War IIthese last few weeks, I must say thatRetributionsimply cannot come soon enough. This trailer, while enjoyable, isn’t going to cut it; March isn’t exactly almost upon us, you know. Badass as the Blood Ravens are, it’ll be a delight to play as someone other than them in the campaign for a change. You can only hear the same back-and-forth so many times before you decide “Hey, maybe Iwon’trevive you this time....

ESRB spills details on Guitar Hero: Modern Hits for Nintendo DS

It’s not a surprise, but work on another version ofGuitar Herofor the Nintendo DS is well underway. TheESRB has recently addeda listing forGuitar Hero: Modern Hits, the apparent follow up to the recent release ofGuitar Hero On Tour: Decades. While Activision haven’t officially announced the title, the game will unsurprisingly feature “modern hits,” the likes of which the ESRB has leaked info on. Based on the game’s ESRB ratings summary, the game will at least include Sum 41’s “Still Waiting,” Franz Ferdinand’s “The Fallen,” and Finger Eleven’s “Paralyzer....

EVE Online getting noob-helper retail release

I may have mentionedbeforethat while I am continually fascinated byEVE Onlineand its idiosyncrasies, I also am not a powerful enough gamer to sustain the will and mental fortitude required to playEVEat any level of seriousness. It’s an intimidating game to get into, for someone raised on friendlier,World of Warcraft-ian MMO fare. Developer CCP seems to be aware of that, and will be taking steps to help new players along as they dive into the cutthroat world ofnull-sec space....

Fable 2 is talkative: Works with three XBLA games (also, tough achievements)

Lionhead’s Peter Molyneux may be a bit of a hype machine at times, but he’s certainly got some smart ideas. As part of his plan to make games “talk” to each other,it has been revealedthat not one, not two, but three upcoming XBLA games will be compatible withFable 2— as money won in the former can be transferred as funds in the latter. “The idea is this,” Molyneux explains. “Carbonated Games, part of Microsoft, have made some great casual games, Arcade titles....

Facebook shenanigans point at next Assassin’s Creed

Ubisoft sure does love doing stuff on Facebook, as evinced by its recent cryptic messages found onthe officialAssassin’s Creedpageon the social site. “It is the time of our rising,” the message reads. “A new age enters and a great battle looms. Templar destiny is at hand and waiting for you. – Dr. Vidic.” “What is this I don’t even” was my first response. But as some have pointed out, it may be a hint at the upcoming multiplayer episode ofAssassin’s Creed IIthatUbisoft has been talking about since earlier this year....

Final Fantasy XIII screenies!

Yes. I admit. I am aFinal Fantasyfan. Well, huge fan. Dare I say “fanboy”? (as much as I loathe that term) Like many of you, I would shamelessly spend $599 on a PS3 just to playFFXIIIwithout giving it a second thought. The lack of news about it all these months has gotten me impatient, and admittedly, I scour the ‘net every single day in search of the faintest trace of new information about the game....

Final Oblivion DLC content, Fighter’s Stronghold, to hit PC/360 next week

You have to love Bethesda Softworks — since releasingElder Scrolls IV: Oblivionfor the PC and Xbox 360, they’ve done a great job in supporting the game with downloadable content, and much needed updates. Sure, there was a slight issue in the beginning involving some horse armor, but we’ll let that slide (or at least I will, since I wasn’t silly enough to buy it). Well, it’s soon coming to an end, as they have announced that next Monday, October 15, will mark the release of the game’s last downloadable content....
