Bungie: Halo and Project Natal don’t mix

So far, Microsoft’s precious Project Natal has been associated with waving your arms and feet around like an idiot, and … well … not a lot else, actually. It certainly hasn’t been associated withHalo, and franchise creator Bungie reckons that it justwouldn’t work, at least with a properHalo. “I think that Natal has some really cool technology,” says senior designer Lars Brakken. “Obviously it doesn’t make sense to use Natal for a fullHalocontrol scheme....

Call of Duty pirate being sued by Activision

Activision shows that they’re not messing around, even when it comes to their 2006 videogames that have been marked down to $30. Poor pirate James R. Strickland of New York has been busted by Activision. We don’t know how they found out, but they did, and now they’re suing Strickland for up to $150,000 for each infringement of each copyrighted videogame he’s pirated. Yikes! They somehow found out Strickland was copying and distributing Call of Duty 3 along with some other unnamed games....

Christian writer lays into videogames for ‘in-depth’ report

TheChristian Examiner Onlinehas published whatit claimsto be an “in-depth” report on videogame violence — a report so deep, in fact, that it refers toGrand Theft Auto IVas “GT4” and is loaded with anti-game comments from religious spokesmen and family groups. That’s right, this so-called in-depth feature is shallower than a sparrow’s c*nt. “While shopping for a new video game recently with my 13-year-old grandson, I previewed several of the latest releases,” stated one of the article’ssensationalinterview subjects … a random grandmother from Alabama....

Civilization V goes classy with its special edition

Now granted, “classy” isn’t the first word that pops into my mind when I see little metal men — in fact, it would probably be one of the last descriptors to come up — but look at that slick art for the box/book/CD covers. I can picture an aged gentleman smoking a pipe by the fireplace while eying it thoughtfully. WhenCivilization Vjourneys to retail outlets on September 21, you’ll have the opportunity to get the $99....

Constructoid: Helping the Xbox 360 to sell in Japan

Welcome everybody toConstructoid, a video series where a panel of videogame characters and myself engage in a (mostly) constructive critique of game developers, publishers, journalists, characters, and players. This is the first episode. It might be awesome. In our glorious debut,Mr. Resetti, Parappa the Rapper, and myself attempt to identify why the Xbox 360 doesn’t sell well in Japan, while coming up with ways that Microsoft could change that. The discussion goes just fine until Mr....

Dark Void Zero started as a joke, doesn’t play like one

One of my most anticipatedDS games of 2010isDark Void Zero. Why? Because I trust Capcom when it comes to NES-era gaming. Other than a few outliers likeStreet Fighter 2010, I loved just about every title they put out on the NES. As poetic as it is in theory to be fueled by faith alone, it’s even better to have your pre-release videogame excitement powered by stuff you actually know. As always, Capcom-Unity manager Seth Killian is there to help....
