This is madness: Gatchaman promotes Monster Hunter Tri 3G

In Japan, theMonster Hunterbrand can do no wrong. The series is beloved there; it can easily use its clout to sell a variety of other products, includingenergy drinks, calendars, andcats wearing Hello Kitty hats. That’s part of why its so strange to see the gang fromGatchaman(also known asBattle of the Planetsin the states) try to spread awareness forMonster Hunter Tri 3G. Its sort of like if Inspector Gadget suddenly came out retirement to let the world know that a newCall of Dutygame is coming out this winter....

Those GTA: Chinatown Wars sales are good in a different way

The sales ofGrand Theft Auto: Chinatown Warshave caused a bit of a stir about whether or not the DS is a system that can support M-rated games. If you’ve been keeping up with the game, you’ll know that itsearly number of 88,704copies is a bit disappointing to most analysts who thought the game would sell around 200,000 copies in its first month. However, they’re just a bunch of dinosaurs judging game sales by how they used to work, not how they work on Nintendo’s systems....

Top ten games that didn’t make Game of the Year 2009

As you may have seen by now, Destructoid and a number of outer outlets have posted their games of the year. The usual suspects were all in attendance — games likeNew Super Mario Bros. UK newspaper: ‘Gamers can’t tell real world from fantasy’

After roughlyeverysingleoutletin the UK blaming the London Riots on videogames, I was led to believe that perhaps we would experience a few months before some more insanity was thrown about by the mainstream media. Perhaps not.The Metro, a UK newspaper owned by the same media group asThe Daily Mail, recently reportedon a university study into Games Transfer Phenomena (GTP). Instead of reporting on anything definitive from the study,The Metrodecided to lead with this: “Hardcore gamers become so immersed in virtual worlds that they turn to imaginary consoles to ‘zoom in’ to people in crowds or to pick things up from the floor, according to a study....
