ThinkGeek issues apology, responds to old Dreamcast debacle

Yesterday, we reportedthatThinkGeekhad sent an unwitting consumer a very clearly “used” Dreamcast console, while advertising them as “new in box.” Contacting us via email, ThinkGeek co-founder Willie Vadnais reached out to us for comment to both explain and make things right. “We have no reason to doubt this post,” he writes, “and we apologize for it. We purchased these new-in-box consoles directly from a vendor who had surplus inventory. We inspected many units before they shipped, and all were absolutely new....

TMNT: Smash Up trailers has turtle, human, and robot power

I won’t lie and say I’m a huge fan of Nintendo’s Smash Bros., but Ubisoft’s attempt to mash the popular series together with theTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtleshas my attention. See, I was somewhat of a Ninja Turtles fiend as a child, collecting everything from the Playmate’s toys to the original Mirage Studios comic books. WhileTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Smash Upis based on some kind of weird aesthetic and universe I’m not entirely familiar with, I’m still holding out some hope....

Try to act surprised: Crysis 2 will be multiplatform

With Crytek constantly touting the power of CryEngine 3, specifically how well it looks and runs on home consoles, it should come as no surprise thatCrysis 2is coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as well as PC. But now I’m getting ahead of myself.Crysis 2? Yep, it was announced today. Unfortunately, no screenshots or actual information accompanied the standard vague press release. We do know that EA will be publishing the game through its Partners program, but that doesn’t exactly have the same effect as say, I don’t know,in-game foliage....

Ubisoft announces Beyond Good and Evil HD

Ever since Ubisoft announcedBeyond Good and Evil 2in 2008, gamers have been dying to see what exactly Ubisoft was going to do with the franchise. It’s been two years since then, and little has been discussed with the game, leaving many with anticipation. That’s a major bummer, as not only was the originalBeyond Good and Evilone of the most thematically original games released last console cycle, it was also smartly stylized and intensely beautiful....

Ubisoft going casual; prepare to be left in the dust hardcore gamer

I’m sure some of you can see the writing on the wall, right? With the success of the Wii, DS, and services like POGO, the casual games market is set to be the largest, most highly-focused group of untapped money that video game companies will be looking to exploit — perhaps shifting resources toward an easier way to profit and away from hardcore gaming risks. The Wiiand DS fit in perfectly to this idea....

Ubisoft picks up Shoot Many Robots

Every promising independent game goes through an initial phase where it’s officially coming out for “digital platforms,” and the team can’t get more specific than that. In the case of Demiurge Studios’Shoot Many Robots, it’s now confirmed for PC, Xbox Live Arcade, and PlayStation Network in 2012, with Ubisoft set to handle publishing duties. Sounds like the game will be playable at PAX Prime, which is really soon, you guys! I could use another cooperative side-scrolling shooter in my life....

Unbelievably corny MGS 4 trailer: Courage is solid, apparently

“In a world where Metal Gears are Solid, one man makes his stand…” is not a direct quote from this “theatrical” trailer, but it might as well be. Though the above video is incredibly cheesy, it doesn’t stop me getting chills just watching the promise of pure, concentrated awesome coming out of Hideo Kojima’s insane mind.My only gripe is that I wish they’d have used Cam Clarke for Liquid Ocelot. Clarke is one of my favorite parts of theMGSseries (as my constant Liquid impressions on Podtoid might suggest) and while Patric Zimmerman is doing a fantastic job of adding a Liquid flair to his regular Ocelot voice, it’s just not quite the same....

Warriors Orochi PSP screens and details

WhileDynasty Warriorsfor PSP was a fun little game at the time, it did little to recreate the feeling of Koei’s button mashing battlefield madness in a handheld format. Broken up into tiny little maps with a less-than-impressive strategy element thrown in, it was clear the game was trying to appeal to a more portable environment, but in doing so made for a very flat feeling experience.“Having received so much feedback from fans who were desperate to have the fullWarriorsconsole experience in a portable format we’re really pleased to now be able to give them exactly what they’ve wished for,” stated Koei Europe sales manager Will Curley....
