Rumortoid: Google TV coming to PS3

I don’t know about this rumor. It would be nice, but Google TV’s whole thing is that it controls your cable box with fancypants video passthru and IR control, giving you the ability to search and watch both web and television content through their software. Still, there are rumors that Google TV could be coming to the PS3 in Spring of 2011. Sony already has a relationship with Google, which was made clear with their newly released Google TVs and and settop Blu-ray box....

It turns out that some of the stuff cosplayers are bringing in arereallyreal. Like AR-15 rifle real. No, really. On the first day of the event one attendee tried to enter with an AR-15 rifle. Sony acquires Evolution Studios, Bigbig Studios: future effects unknown

According tothis GamesIndustry.biz report, Sony has acquired Evolution Studios (ofMotorStormfame) and subsidiary Bigbig Studios (ofPursuit Forcefame). Both companies had been so intrinsically linked (in theory, at least briefly) to the successes of their Sony platforms — the PS3 and PSP, respectively — that this move should come as no surprise, but the future benefit for Sony remains a mystery. WhileMotorStormwas widely regarded as a gorgeous, slightly above-average arcade racing title, andPursuit Forcewas a mildly underrated PSP game aimed at the Japanese market in the same way that SEGA’s mid-90sVirtuatitles were, neither company has truly demonstrated the kind of intense creativity usually associated with companies previously acquired by console manufacturers (Rare, Camelot, etc....

Sony Gamers Day 2007: Folklore

BesidesPAIN, the other real pleasant surprise title to come out of Sony’s Gamers Day was the Action/RPGFolklore. I can say this now: If you’re tired of the same old Japanese RPG, then this is your remedy to theFinal Fantasyclones of the world. The first thing you notice when you see the game is the incredible art style that permeates throughout the title. It’s so unique and interesting, the game is almost worth it alone as a work of art....

Super Metroid would’ve sounded rad as a Genesis title

Now that I think about it, I’ve seen the occassional video here and there, but I had no idea making songs sound Genesis-y was a full-blown trend. It most certainly is, and you wouldn’t believe how exceptional many of the reworked tunes sound. For the sake of convenience, we might as well start with Geckoyamori’s take on theSuper Metroidsoundtrack. Hardcore Gaming 101 recently picked up on a number of his songs, which can befound on YouTube....

Super Smash Bros. Brawl finally gets European release date

I have made no secret of myburning hatredfor thebullsh*tthat gets heaped on the European market by Japanese publishers, not least byNintendo, whose decision torefuseEurope a release date for one of themost anticipatedWii titles of all time (out of like, two) was taken by many, especially myself, as a huge slap in the face. I don’t even care to play the thing, but principles are principles. Anyway, the release date seems to have FINALLYbeen revealed, weeks after the US got their copies, months after Japan, and long after everyone has stopped caring about the stupid overhyped game....
