No holiday would be complete without the Master of Hardware Bundles, Nintendo, producing one of their consoles in a fancy color and packaging it with a popular game. Starting on November 23, two special-edition Nintendo DS bundles will be available at retail. The Gold edition DS bears the Triforce symbol, and not surprisingly comes withThe Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.The pink DS — what Nintendo are calling “Metallic Rose” — comes withNintendogs Best Friendedition, and has a cute little pink paw print on it....

As previously hinted at by Activision,Guitar Hero 4will see the introduction of multiple instruments — drums, bass, vocals, and guitars. Where have we seenthatbefore? But Activision are bringing the feature you’ve probably wanted since the series was first introduced — the ability to create your own tracks. Although these created tracks will not include vocals due to storage and copyright issues, the created songs can be named and then shared with other users online....

The DOJO week started off with theStadium: Boss mode. In this mode, you will fight every boss from the Subspace Emissary one after the other. The bosses will appear in random order and the difficulty increases with each boss. You’ll have access to Heart Containers after each battle, but only a limited supply throughout the challenge. Tuesday brought the return ofJigglypuff. He (she?) is the same as in previousSmashgames with only some small changes....

Some of you may not know that they’re making aPuss in Bootsmovie, and a coinciding video game will release alongside it. THQ has announced that they’re working on the licensed title, and it will be a motion-controlled title. That means we’ll be seeing it hit the 360 using Kinect, the PS3 with Move, as well as versions for the Wii and DS. Key features are going to include being able to wiggle around to escape enemies with the Kinect version, dance battle mini-games on the DS, or swashbuckling sword fights via Move....

Also,Happy Birthday, Tubatic!– CTZ] Last year’s hyped-up darling,Mirror’s Edge, took a mild critical beating for its low cost cut-scenes, restricted play area and death riddled learning curve. Its shallow and arguably unfair fighting system brought much heat upon the game for failing to bring the “Shooter” along with this First Person runner gameplay....

Video Game Sound Creator’s Alliance is what the newly formed group of 40 Japanese composers call themselves. Several musical badasses are among the ranks, including Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill), Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross), and Kenji Ito (don’t even get me started). What’s the purpose of the group? No idea yet, and theirofficial web pageis still under construction. I’m sure we’ll find out more when the page launches on October 19th....

The boys at Gamecock are finally starting to reveal more of their hand as this trailer for Crackpot Entertainment’sInsecticidecontains actual gameplay footage, much unlike theMushroom Menteaser released a while back. Gamecock pledged to publish unique and innovative new games but to be perfectly frank, I am yet to hear anything from these guys that makes me think “wow, that’s original.” Sure, while the announced games might have a quirky story, likeInsecticide‘s cop-drama-with-insects premise, the actual gameplay sounds far from fresh....

February 27 is approaching sooner than you think, which means Electronic Arts’Godfather IIis almost on store shelves. With that in mind, it makes sense that EA would release two trailers within the span of one week. Both focus on the different attributes of your crew members, arson and extortion in particular. Hamza covered this in detail in his hands-on preview, so if video isn’t enough,be sure to check that out....

Ubisoft, a game company whose meteoric rise on the back of a string of hits featuring very American-style, hardass, masculine heroes (Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, even neo-Prince of Persia) has opted to go a decidedly alternate route bypicking up the North American publishing rightsto SUDA51’s probably-more-art-than-game gameNo More Heroes. I always imagined SUDA51 as the sort of game designer that would result if Gene Wilder’s Willy Wonka were to beat Johnny Depp’s Willy Wonka to death on that creepy acid-trip boat in front of a group of children....

While I feelUncharted: Drake’s Forturnehas a number of annoying flaws, there’s no denying that it’s a terrific experience and easily one of the most amazing looking console games of this generation. ThankChristthen, that we have some more eye candy on the way. Here are five screenshots ofUncharted 2: Among Thieves, and all I can say is that they look likeUnchartedscreens. I’m definitely getting a “more of the same” vibe here, but if Naughty Dog makes the relevant gameplay tweaks, then more of the same is definitely a good thing....

When it comes to horror, there’s a school of thought that suggests the less you see of what is intended to frighten the viewer, the more terrifying it is. This trailer for the PS3 port of last year’s 360 abomination,Vampire Rain(subtitledAltered Speciesfor the new release) has really taken this idea to heart. Notice the utter lack of anything that resembles footage from the game, as we’re treated to a scene of a guy running from a “vampire” more laughable than a LARP full of people who actually think theyarevampires....

That means its up to all the lovely readers to assist in the selection of our next game. Lately, I’ve been trying to come up with some way to tie the games on offer in some kind of thematic way.
