Old G4TV lives in Canada

Over a year ago,G4TVopted to change their station format from an all tech/gaming channel to more of an all guy channel with new programming like that of SpikeTV, in hopes that they would draw in more viewers and advertisers. Little did they realize that by changing formats, G4TV would lose a huge chunk of their loyal viewers that enjoyed the “all tech” format and the channel would end up being a huge joke to gamers....

Other Worlds Than These: I live in Liberty City

[It’s time for anotherMonthly Musing— the monthly community blog theme that provides readers with a chance to get their articles and discussions printed on the frontpage. — CTZ] It’s not easy to live in Liberty City. I suppose that I don’t even have to point that out. You are probably already aware of the actions of Niko Bellic and the other reckless criminals like him, but how many of you have stopped to consider what it is like to be a regular resident of the most dangerous city in the world?...

Paul W.S. Anderson ‘would definitely be interested’ in new Mortal Kombat film

Hollywood, I’ve been patiently waiting for anotherMortal Kombatmovie for 13 years. Seeing a live-action Baraka on the silver screen brought a tear to my eye. What’s the hold up? Paul W.S. Anderson, who directed the originalMortal Kombatfilm back in 1995, is down. It’s just that no one has knocked on his door about it yet. “No one’s talked to me about it,” hetold G4. “But if they did, it would be something I would definitely be interested in....

Peripherally Speaking: Crossfire Remote Pistol

When it comes to Wii accessories, the vast majority of products are ones designed to work in conjunction with the Wii Remote. Just look at all of the assorted plastic bits of junk that you’re able to slap a Remote into to turn the controller into “something else” — generally a superficial representation of another object with little advantage in gameplay. Penguin United’s Crossfire Pistol actually is “something else,” however, as they have integrated the Remote itself into the gun....

Podcastle 10 records tonight: I think we’re talking about Lara Croft

Rrrrrreach out and touch plates. I hate announcing we’re doing another Podcastle. I feel I might as well be telling someone their mother died. Nevertheless, it’s Podcastle time again so I have to deal with the grim business at hand. I think we’re talking about Lara Croft tonight, and since I can’t be bothered to play those games, I might just eat lollipops and let Atheistium do her pseudo-lesbian womancrush thing....

Podtoid 146 records tonight, all about the Shark

Podtoid records later tonight and will consist of your normal cast of Jim Sterling, Topher Cantler, Brad Nicholson, Samit Sarkar and maybe Joseph Leray if he doesn’t have soccer practice or whatever lame excuse he was making. Tonight’s Podtoid will also be guest starring Hamza Aziz. Hey, that’s me! I got roped into this last minute and I have no clue what we’re going to be talking about. It didn’t look like anyone was going to make a “Podtoid is recording tonight” type post so I’m went ahead and made one and it’s all about me!...

PopCap donates first 500 copies of Bejeweled Twist to Games For Soldiers

While some gamers regard PopCap’s selection as casual titles as the stuff that bored housewives play (good thing they’ve got a computer in the kitchen and all), let’s face it — millions of people play their games for a reason. The match-three formula makes for a simple, enjoyable gaming experience, and best of all, it is ideal for a stress-free zone out session where your brain can shut off for a while....

Rally-X Rumble trademarked by Namco Bandai

Remember Rally-X? Or did I just date myself? It looks like the next in the Namco Generations releases has been uncovered.Siliconerafound a European trademark for “Rally-X Rumble,” which was filed last month. Surely this is a revival of the classic maze racer Rally-X, which was popular in the…looks around…1980’s. Remember? You had to race around a maze looking for flags while listening to awesome music. You had to dodge other racecars as they were out to crash directly into you....

Ralphie May fails at comedy, trashes Xbox 360 at Spike VGAs (NSFW)

Yes, older Xbox 360 game consoles were prone to failure. Apparently, so is Ralphie May’s comedy routine.Gametrailers sent us this sadRalphie Mayperformance from the 2007 Spike Video Game Awards. He went on for a few minutesbefore the presentation of the winner of Best Individual Sports Game. May tried to appeal to the audience, but they were not feeling it. Our guess is that you won’t either. He tried to work in a crack about Xbox 360 failures between fat jokes and slurs, but a punchline of “I should’ve got a five Xbox” is totally lost, even on gamers....

Rebellion explains why Aliens games work so well

A while back, Iwrote an articledetailing why I thoughtAliensgames worked out so well. While chatting with Rebellion about the upcomingAliens vs. Predator, I asked project lead Tim Jones why he felt thatAlienswas one of the most successful licensed game franchises out there. “I think it is largely due to the fact thatAliensgames have usually been developed without being tied to the release date of a particular movie,” he explained. “Licensed videogame tie-ins often suffer from having truncated development schedules: they tend to get green-lit after a movie has already been through pre-production but have to be completed months in advance of the actual movie release — so they can be on the shelves and benefit from the same marketing spend that the movie gets....

Reboot o’clock: Another Doom film possibly coming

Last time I casually mentioned that theDoommovie was kind of fun for what it is, a good number of you jumped out of hiding to put forth similarly positive opinions. What’s Playing reports, via an insider, that Universal is in the beginning stages of developing a reboot ofDoomcomplete with — you guessed it — 3D. This certainly sounds like something that was bound to happen eventually. That part in the movie where it’s all first-person shootery?...

RedLynx teases 1000-day-long iPhone game

The studio behindTrials HDand the upcomingMotoHerozhas put out a teaser for an iPhone game. This video makes it soundquite compelling, and gives off the impression that it’s going to be a departure from the racing games RedLynx is traditionally known for. They are suggesting a title in which there are “1000 heroes to discover,” with enough stories, maps, and treasure to match. So, presumably, playable content is updated daily. Neat concept — enough to get me interested without even knowing what this looks or plays like....
