PS Vita 3G downloads capped to 20 MB

In a move that could only be described as, “F*cking What?”, it’s been revealed that the 3G version of the PS Vita has a download cap, and it’s smaller than my little acorn winkie. Using the 3G connection, users will only be able to download apathetic20 megabytes. A Sony representative has stated that this limit may be expanded in future, but that’s the starting figure. In addition, the 3G’s 128Kbps download and 64kbps upload speeds are causing concern, with some wondering if the Vita will be able to run online games without relying on Wi-fi....

PS2 SingStar takes on the 90s March 18

SingStarand its bad-ass heavy-duty microphones that (if tossed correctly) could kill a small bear cub is back, this time on the PlayStation 2 asSingStar 90s. This disc hits shelves on March 18, andaccording to Sony’s Jennifer Clark, has a “very eclectic mix of music” that tries to “represent all of the major music movements that happened in the 90s.” That’s easily confirmed by glancing at the track list — M.C. Hammer, Soundgarden, and Extreme all make the cut in the 90s collection....

Quiznos sponsors XBLA Pac-Man World Championship, Blinky tastes better toasted

Let’s make some things clear, so that this doesn’t come out later in the day and ruin my writing career. I like Quiznos and I likePac-Man. The holy unity of Cravable Salads and power pellets make me feel things I haven’t felt since I lost my virginity that one stormy night. To Prince, in a barn, when the horses wondered who we were. Wait, what was I trying to write about again?...

Rabbids can walk on the Moon and Moon walk too

Earlier this month, I got to check outRabbids Go Homefor the Wii. I always thought the Rabbids were funny, but it wasn’t until I played the new game that I now adore the crazy creatures. InRabbids Go Home, the Rabbids are making a giant mountain made up of crap. The Rabbids are going all over the world to get their hands on anything they can fit into their shopping cart from chairs, tables, hospital equipment, cows to even the clothes off people’s backs....

Rejoice, retail-lovers: THQ to publish Amnesia in boxes

Digital distribution is where it’s at when it comes to PC games these days coughSTEAMcough, but there definitely IS merit to having a few Digital Versatile Discs (or Compact Discs if you wanna go retro) in boxes. THQ recognizes that, and clearly recognizes thatAmnesia: The Dark Descentis a pretty damn scary (and thus great) horror game. Now they’re bringing the loving product of Frictional Games to the retail-loving masses. Yes.I thoughtAmnesiawas one of the most terrifying games in years, andso did a lot of other people, so I can really appreciate that more people can get a chance to experience it....

Retailers don’t have room for the music game explosion

The saturation of the music game genre is reaching absurd heights, as companies desperately and pathetically scrabble to take a piece of the pie richly cooked by theGuitar HeroandRock Bandfranchises. It has gotten so bad now that, in the case of XS Games’PopStarGuitar, retailerswere unwilling to stockyet another squeaky plastic toy on their shelves. XS Games (such an ironic name) was forced to change its peripheral to a silly but small add-on that could be fixed onto a Wii remote....

Review: Creature Defense

Here’s the concept: Take tower defense and mix it with card-based strategy games. If you’re a total fu*king geek like I am, that sounds amazing. That’s whatCreature Defenseis. And you know what? It’s pretty good. Addictive even. I’ve lost sleep over this little bastard. Card game nerds: You want this. PlayedEye of Judgmenton the PS3? There’s some characters from the game are inCreature Defense. Tower Defense people: You want this. It’s what you like about tower defense, with most of the dumb stuff (useless classes) weeded out....

Review: Eliss

I love it when developers “get it.” The iPhone isn’t a toy and shouldn’t be treated as such. I get grouchy whenever I play a title that uses an on-screen directional pad and buttons. I tend to get especially testy when developers choose to clutter the game with moronic and complicated controls. Eliss’controls are simple and as a result, the game is better than most available on the App Store. You touch and flick without obstruction — no silly tilt functionality or on-screen shenanigans....
