Selling millions of copies is an excellent achievement, but I don’t think anyone would disagree that the formula behind The Sims has grown a bit stale over the last seven years. At this point everyone who could possibly love the virtual doll house gimmick has already dressed, undressed and simulated virtual copulation with said dolls, and the whole thing is wearing rather thin. Which is why when EA announced they would be creating drastically different Sims titles, you could almost hear the collective ears of the mainstream market perk up in unison like so many curious German Shepherds....

After the PSP’s launch in 2005, gamers became increasingly down in the mouth about Sony’s first portable attempt. There was a serious lack of quality titles, and some worried that it would become a “port machine.” Times have definitely changed. Two years later, we’re seeing top notch original releases, and sales are up from last year. What changed? We all know that good games sell systems, and it just may be that it took this long for developers and publishers to catch on to what needed to be done to make a successful PSP title....

Dungeon Siege, the game, revolved entirely around stabbing things and burning them with arcane magic. It was somehow less cerebral than theDiabloseries, the finest games ever based around an experiment to determine how long it takes for repetitive stress injuries to develop in index fingers. According to everything I just said, turning the title into a braindead popcorn flick rife with semi-nude women, explosive pyrotechnics and vaguely Arthurian dialogue should be right up the alley of absolutely any hack in Hollywood with enough cognitive ability to open his Powerbook....
Announced by the charming and small Felicia Day earlier today at Microsoft’s E3 media briefing, both Twitter and Facebook integration are coming to Xbox LIVE this Fall. Visually, it’s seamlessly integrated with the existing NXE interface. Functionally, it should work that way as well — you’ll be able to view updates, photos, and add friends to your Xbox LIVE list right from the Xbox 360 Facebook/Twitter applications. It looks pretty slick, for sure, and as aTwitter addict myselfit’s definitely neat....
