New Folklore trailer captures my soul and holds it tightly, yet gently

Dick McVengeance has beenclamoringfor a fleshed-out trailer for the upcoming, PS3-exclusiveFolklore, and I hope that his hunger has been satiated. In the above trailer, we get a look at Ellen and Keats, the game’s protagonists. In short, Ellen goes to the mystical village of Doolin to find her dead mother, while Keats, a reporter, goes there to investigate the paranormal goings on in the “realm of the dead.” While the trailer does a good job of handling themise en scène, I want to know about the soul-sucking function....

New Hunters, Smokers and Boomers coming to Left 4 Dead 2

We had the distinct pleasure of visiting Valve’s studio this past week to get a personal look atLeft 4 Dead 2and chat to the brains behind this year’s big zombie shooter. Coming soon, we have a lengthy interview with series writer Chet Faliszek, where we ask a number of burning questions, such as the one that’s been bugging me for weeks — will the Hunter, Smoker, Boomer and Tank be getting new models, or will they just be recycled fromLeft 4 Deadas previews indicated?...

New James Bond game inspired by old James Bond games

I have many, many concerns aboutnew James Bond game,Blood Stone, but I am eternally happy that the series is returning to third person and in capable hands with Bizarre Creations. My joy over the return to third person is mostly becauseEverything or Nothing, EA’s second-to-last outing with the franchise, was probably the best single-player Bond experience ever made (don’t listen to Anthony) and it was third person (their last outing,From Russia With Love, was no slouch either)....

Nier dated, hitting this spring

Neir’s release date is nigh. Yesterday afternoon, Square Enix confirmed that the first entry in the odd Action RPG “franchise” is slated to hit the Xbox 360 and PS3 sometime during this tropical cyclone season — spring if you’re not into weather junk. If you’re not familiar withNier, we highly suggest you watchthis trailer. It features a screaming woman and the game’s logo moving ever closer to the screen. Or if you’re feeling particularly froggy, hitthis bit of TGS literature, which deals with theGestaltvariant of the game....

Remember back when theBadmanseries was called theBadmanseries? You know, back before the whole “This sounds too much like Batman so change it or we’ll take all your money” thing happened. PAX 08: Defense Grid: The Awakening, another tower-defense game, revealed

Although I’ve had a long-running love of both turn-based and real-time strategy games, the burgeoning tower-defense genre got no immediate interest from me. Perhaps it’s because I initially perceived them as “the lazy man’s strategy game.” After giving some a try, though, I started warming up to the notion of building only defenses to stop ever increasing hoards of bad guys. Still, you’d think that with the somewhat formulaic nature of the gameplay new games wouldn’t be coming out so regularly, but that definitely isn’t the case....
