Heavy Rain dev: QTE criticisms are ‘bullsh*t’

Heavy Rainhas weathered some criticism recently from people who are displeased with what they believe to be a Quick-Time-Event heavy experience. Quantic Dream founder David Cage isnot happy with the situation, declaring such accusations to be “bullsh*t.” This is not a man you cross, clearly. “Bullshit! Just bullshit! I mean what’s the question? We releasedFahrenheitbefore. People know very well what the kind of balance we’re looking for is. The balance is quite similar inHeavy Rain,” Cage argues....

Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin: The Most Dangerous Game

I’m pretty happy withthis week’s episodeof Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin’. I was kind of worried that the subject matter may have been too grim to be funny for most people (a laGeometry Wars), but the ep seems to have gotten a pretty good reception so far. If you feel the video Diggworthy, feel free to lend your supporthere. I’m also trying to convince Ashley Davis to start selling videogame hoodies like those featured in the video, but the chick won’t budge....

Indie Nation #49: The Legend of Princess

Oh, look — it’s another installment of Indie Nation, wherein I highlight a really good indie game you should play. The Legend of Princessis, in the end, a pretty typical action platformer. It’s got a neat method of selling your difficulty level (choosing particular starting inventory items makes the game significantly easier or harder), it’s short but replayable, and it’s kind of interesting to see a lot of scenes and characters fromThe Legend of Zeldatransported from a top-down action RPG into a side scrolling beatemup, but it’s not going to change your life or surprise you in any way....

inFAMOUS 2 getting Move support according to Sony site

PlayStation Move support has been outed forinFAMOUS 2by way ofthe official websitefor Sony’s glow-in-the-dark waggle dildo. The upcoming superhero sequel from Sucker Punch has been listed among those games featuring Move. Bear in mind of course that Sony has not officially announced this, so there’s a possibility that the website could have gotten it wrong. At last count, Sucker Punch was considering Move, but hadn’t announced any final decisions. Even so, it’s beginning to look like every game that comes out for the PS3, at least via Sony, is going to have some sort of Move support, and that’s cool....

Interview: I’m on a tank doin’ flips ‘n’ s***

While attending theWorld of Tanksbooth to interview SteelSeries, I was approached by theWorld of Tanksteam to interview them as well; I had free time and they had tanks. Done. We tried to do the interview in their booth but we were unable to hear ourselves think, let alone record due to a horrific amount of rubbish music from the next booth over. So we did the only other thing we could do: we went outside and climbed a tank....

Kick-Ass game hits PlayStation Network this week

Frozen Codebase’s digital download title,Kick-Ass, is set to hit PlayStation Network this week for the nice price of $14.99. The game is based on the film which is based on the comic book which is, I’d hope, not based on some sh*t someone tried to pull in real life. The game follows the events and characters of the movie closely, and looks to be a top-down beat ’em up with light role-playing game elements....

Killzone 2 ‘Helghan’ trailer actually piques my interest

I must confess: until now, I have only had a passing interest inKillzone 2. The immense hype for the title, along with Guerrilla’s admissions oftouching up their game’s screenshots— twice — has made me extremely suspicious, and the apparent lack of any palpable story screams “just another good-looking gray/brown FPS.” However, the “Helghan” trailer above finally provides me with a reason to give a damn. In addition to all the graphically-intensive fighting on display, we’re finally given some semblance of a story — and unless I’m reading into it too much, it sounds a lot like subtle political commentary on the Iraq War....

Killzone 3 has seven ‘f*ck you’s and one ‘motherf*cker’

Guerrilla Games’ Mathijs de Jonge has talked about that most common element of first-person-shooters, the swearing.Killzone 2wasn’t shy of an F-Bomb, butKillzone 3is restricting itself somewhat to keep the curses more impactful. “InKillzone 2we ended up with too much of it,” admitted the director. “The thing about swearing is that it’s highly effective when it’s done right, and inKillzone 3I think there’s some swearing but if feels a lot more impactful....

The people picking apart Hideo Kojima’s latest teases are leading us down a path of disappointment. Ateaser sitewent up for Kojima’s next game, which has now become a countdown, and people are studying and tearing apart everything about the site in an effort to crack some sort of Da Vinci Code.
