Haiku ninjas announced! Ninja Blade soundtrack winners

Haiku contest to win free game-related swag? Yeah, that’s the best idea I’ve had in a while. No need to thank me though, I’ve been congratulating myself in the mirror since I came up with the idea in the first place. I think next time I may ask you to doan interpretative dance video to a classic videogame song. I promise the prize will be good for that one. Anyway, winners!...

How does 2012 sound for StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm?

That’s sounding likely, based on a comment from Battle.net project director Greg Canessa at GDC Online. During a Q&A session following his presentation on the new-and-improved service, reports GameSpot, he responded to a question about upcoming Battle.net features with the following: Trading replays, broadcasting replays, and upgraded profiles are “a main area of focus we’re going to be seeing on theStarCraftside over the next 18 months between now andHeart of the Swarm....

Hundreds banned from Final Fantasy XI, now coping with reality again

Final Fantasy XImight not be up there withWorld of Warcraftwhen it comes to MMO powerhouses, but it certainly has a following — a following nowthinned by hundredsthanks to some cheeky cheating. The story goes that a number of players “discovered an issue that allowed players to create multiple items for certain treasures and rewards in areas such as Salvage and Assault by exploiting the game system.” The glitch had been known to players long before Square Enix caught wind of it, and they exploited it like an underaged crack fiend....

Infested Planet beta goes open for pre-orders

We haven’t posted enough — or at all from the looks of it — about Rocket Bear Games’Infested Planet, so let me remedy that right now. A beta forInfested Planethas gone live for anyone who pre-orders or pre-ordered the game, to give you your fix of tactical RTS fun right now. I’ve been reading some great things aboutInfested Planet, and from the looks of the trailer it’s still shaping up to be a great and frantic mix of continuously adapting tactics and arcade top-down shooting madness....

Japanese Pokemon Black/White is DSi region locked

I flipped out on the plane a few hours ago. Being detained at the airport was a shock, but being blocked from playingPokemon Whiteon the flight home almost broke me. Thank God I’m home now, and can get started on the game using my old DS Lite. I thought it was just me at first, butSiliconera has confirmed it;Pokemon Black/Whiteis the first region locked DSi game. That’s sad stuff. All this does is make the DSi even less attractive to Western consumers, and give people more motive to just pirate the game instead of importing it legitimately....

Jim Raynor still a badass in Starcraft II confirmed

You have probably seen theStarCraft II: Wings of Libertycinematic trailer already. But you haven’t seen it here yet. And that’s a crime. Go ahead and watch it again. StarCraft‘s story really stuck in my head, to the point where I still clearly remember it though I have not touched the game in longer than I can remember. Jim Raynor, in particular, had a depth of personality and wound up being rather dynamic....

Kids and weird ladies are all up on Rhythm Heaven Wii

Rhythm Heaven Wiiis about to be released in Japan, and marketing for the title is starting to pick up. We’ve already gotten a look at some of the game’s50+ levels, multi-player mode, and a endless games, but these TV spots show us a few more levels in greater detail. The “taking pictures of sweaty luchadors” level seems to be a big hit with the kids, and it looks like that vaguely androgynous middle aged woman really loves making those seals wiggle....

Kmart ad for US greatest hits is colored in irony

We’re still crossing our fingers that Sony will melt our faces off with a megaton announcement regarding Home, but something more likely to happen during Tuesday’s press conference involves some fantastic games that are about to get the “greatest hits” treatment. Nothing is official yet, buthave ads ever let us downbefore? I’m still a little heartbroken thatHeavenly Sword isn’t among those pictured, but there are still at least two games on that list for newPS3owners to get excited about....

Kratos confirmed for LittleBigPlanet … in a fashion

Neverbeforehas a marauding mass-killer-turned-servant-of-the-Gods looked so utterlydarling. This clothsome Kratos highlights some of the potential fun that could be had from the sack-faced denizens ofLittleBigPlanet, and can be yours to enjoy in the game as part of its pre-order bonuses. This is said to be but one of avariety of exclusivesthat you can net for pre-ordering the PS3’s highly anticipated platform builder. It’s a great idea, and looks retardedly cute. Definitely one of the few pre-order bonuses that I’m actively impressed by....

Learn all about the races in Guild Wars 2

Woh. I hate MMOs and I still have to say that. Ever since thelaunch trailerforGuild Wars 2hit it has been evident that this game was going to be gorgeous, but this looks amazing. In all honesty I have no idea whatGuild Warsis about so I’ll leave the in depth commentary to those who know more, but I think I won’t get to many arguments with my summation of “woh.” I’m pretty sure that they hit every fantasy cliche known to man in that trailer, but they’re hitting the cliches in a unique way at least....

LittleBigplanet screens are looking hot on PS Vita

Some new screenshots forLittleBigPlaneton the PlayStation Vita have squirted out of Gamescom, and they’re looking quite pretty indeed. Really reminds me of the time when I thought the Game Boy’s collection of black blocks on a green background were impressive. To think we’ve got games likethisnow. Handheld gaming has indeed come a long way, even if some developers think it’s almost dead. Dead or not,LittleBigPlanetlooks undebiably gorgeous, so I certainly hope we get a few more years from dedicated gaming handhelds yet....
